To all my friends and Brothers and Sisters in Christ on the Baptist Board....I want to share a real blessing with you (in my humble opinion) (This is a limited time offer!)

I live in the Upstate of South Carolina and we are blessed with many excellent area Gospel Broadcasting outlets here. One of the stations that is "local" to us is the most powerful (50,000 watts) AM (720AM) Gospel Radio/Internet station in the country at this time. They are WGCR.net on-line and they are a 24 hr a day ministry of the independent Anchor Baptist Church of Pisgah Forest, North Carolina. This station has been a tremendous blessing to me for years now and I am happy to share them with all I know.

They are currently, from now (today) thru Sunday March 3rd having their yearly Share-A-Thon that they do to raise the funding to maintain their operating budget for the coming year. I know there are those that don't care for "faith-promise" type giving but nonetheless....the preaching and singing is wonderful and more than anything they are trying to reach the lost with the Gospel of our Lord. Many people have been saved over the years through these Share-A-Thons so even if you don't or can't give I believe you'll get a blessing just listening. This year they have added live-streaming video so you can watch OR listen. I promise....You won't regret listening. I am doing so as I type right now and I've been on "shouting and praising ground" for several hours now. I hope each of you will bookmark the following links and be similarly blessed. One of the prime preachers for this year's S-A-T is evangelist Brian McBride from...are ya ready for this...Bean Blossom, Indiana (what a name). This dear brother has been a tremendous blessing to me ever since I first heard him preach several years ago. I HIGHLY recommend him. I hope you will be blessed as well. Here are the Links to WGCR and Anchor Baptist Church...God Bless You All:

Listen Online WGCR.net (there is a link to the live video stream here as well)

Welcome to anchorbaptist.org (This is the link to the Church and other associated ministries.

    By The Way

I know there probably won't be a lot of "traffic" in this thread just due to its nature but if, over the course of this week, any of you do get an opportunity to listen to or view the services at Anchor/WGCR I'd love to know what you think or how the Lord may have used it to help/bless you. Pray for them. Everything I know about this Church/pastor/people/and their ministries and their care and ministry outreach in the area they serve has been nothing but positive. God Bless Ya'll!

    A Daily "BUMP"

I'm gonna take the liberty to give this thread a daily "Bump" at least thru the end of the week so people can stay aware of it. WGCR's Share-A-Thon runs through this coming Sunday, March 3rd. Great Preaching and singing. See the OP for the links to get you in.

Note: All scheduled times are U.S. Eastern Standard Time.

    Get a Blessing!

And Now...To The Top It Goes!

...BUMP.....I hope ya'll will get a chance to listen and enjoy this today....The services at Anchor Baptist/WGCR have been particularly sweet this morning.
By the way, I haven't mentioned this before but they chose the GCR in WGCR because they call the station "Great Commission Radio". They are doing their best to do their part...IMHO.

    Like I said...Limited Time Offer!

Today and tomorrow are the last two days for this series of meetings. I hope some of you will take the time to listen. I listened last night and several folks were saved and one young man surrendered to the full-time Gospel ministry after the evening preaching hour. The prayer altar was full continuosly for over an hour and many decisions were made for the Lord. These meetings have always been about much more than simply raising money for a radio station....always! If any of you are able to listen then please tell us all what you think on this thread. They will being calling YOUNG preachers "from the floor" today at 2pm EST to preach short timed messages for a few hours. They have said there are a bunch of young men who are "chompin' at the bit" to get an opportunity to preach this afternoon...should be interesting! God bless all my brothers and sisters in Christ here on the Baptist Board.

:) ...listening to this for a while was quite a reminder of the potential for cultural diversity that exists in our community here that is so easy to overlook. It was a fun visit and it put a smile on my face to get to understand your local area better. Thanks for sharing.

    Thanks...I Think!?

Benjamin, I'm glad you had the opportunity to listen even though I'm not exactly sure what you were trying to communicate in regards to "the potential for cultural diversity". We are a pretty diverse bunch in this area. That particular church is located in western North Carolina in the mountains but the culture up there in those mountains is (aside from many strong Biblical Christians) weird way beyond the normal diversity. There are bunches of occultists, gays, and extremist environmentalist activists up there as well. Downtown Asheville NC is a beautiful city (and the surrounding area) but it is overun by perverts of every size, shape, and type and many "New Age" wackos. I guess they "gravitate" there in pursuit of their worship of nature. The Bible Believers in that area have an uphill battle to face anytime they try to share the Gospel. Anchor Baptist Church and WGCR are truly a Gospel lighthouse in a dark and needy land. I do sincerely hope you got a blessing from the preaching and the singing.

    Do You Want A Blessing?

Sure, why not? Last year's models are already old.

Another way to say it I guess is that listening to those on your local radio show made me realize how different your culture was from mine. It was also a reminder of how much is missed on a board like this when we can’t hear the other person’s accent or see their facial expressions and such. For instance, a couple days ago I had read one of your replies in a post and I picked up on that your mannerism had some unique qualities that made me take pause and wonder how natural it was so then later when I listened to your radio show it kind of filled in the blanks. When listening I imagined how you might sound in person and have similar mannerisms to those I heard on the radio.

I grew up in Phoenix, a total city boy knowing the streets and currently live in a suburb of Phoenix which I’m sure you know is large city with many radio stations but I can guarantee you that not one of them would share the cultural aspects and mannerisms and types of songs that I heard on that radio show and I expect you live with everyday.

I guess I just find the difference in cultures interesting and get kind of fixated on it because it fascinates me – as you might can tell because I start talking about it  – or as my wife who sometimes becomes embarrassed with my openly expressed captivations and forthcoming remarks about my observations of such things thinks is cute to inject into my conversations, “Don’t mind him, he doesn’t get out very often!” I could insert a few embarrassing stories here, (like the first I went camping and ended up in a confrontation with some "giant deer", who I assumed would be afraid of me but obviously weren't, which later I discovered were actually elk) but you get the picture – I was just openly remarking how different I found your culture (if in fact you would fit in with the mannerism of those on the radio), not in a bad way, just as a matter of fact. It was fun to witness such diversity between your culture and mine and I was just trying to point that out as a matter of interest. That is all.
