Rand Paul ... not a hero to all, even not all Republicans.

    This is "news"?

Conservatives have known for quite a while where, so called, "moderate" (Washington establishment) Republicans stand.

He is a hero to me, and most in my state. He represents what the Republican Party should be instead of the trash that leads it now like Mitch McConnell.

You folk need to read more. It isn't the Rinos who are upset with him. The Republican Hawks are upset with him.
Even the conservative Wall Street Journal blasted Rand Paul for his filibuster.

    From the WSJ:

Does anyone here really believe Crabby gives a flip about the Republican Party?

I think Senator Paul did a great service to the country. He forced a firm answer from the Yugo Obummer Administration regarding the use of drones in the United States and he reinstated the live filibuster as an appropriate legislative tactic. And topping it all off Senator Cruz of Texas rubbed Holder"s nose in some of the crap he has been spewing!

Senator Graham was wrong to criticize Paul and McCain has apparently forgotten his maverick days in Congress as Newt Gingrich noted last night!

Looks like you do not care that conservatives and hawks criticize Rand Paul for his filibuster. I guess only your opinion is what matters.

Reminds me of the old saw, "Don't confuse me with the facts. My mind is made up."

First there is differences of opinions on all sorts of things in both parties, nothing there to look at. Trying to play this up as some sort of rift in the GOP is only intended to distract from the fact that the President has now lost two battles. The sequester battle and he had his hand forced into responding to legitimate questions. Libbies are furious.

I guess you support grandstanding then. That's all Paul was doing. He knew he wasn't going to win when he started. He's a lot like his father, isn't he?

He did win. Holder was forced to give a definitive no in a letter sent directly to Rand Paul by holder the next day.

In a way it is grandstanding, but it was principled grandstanding to make people aware of a concern. Robert, you claim to be a real progressive, but I would have to doubt that if you think the President has authority to order drone strikes on American citizens on American territory.

    From the quoted piece:

In other words, according to this statement, the President CAN order the execution of a US citizen, on US soil, without due process using a drone. What does it take, these days, to declare someone to be an "enemy combatant"? Seven days worth of food in their pantry? Further, which war, declared by our Congress, activated "laws of war" that allows the Presidential branch of the Federal government to do what isn't allowed by local government? Kill US citizens on US soil without due process.

That's "conservative"? That's in agreement with the Constitution?

Closing thought. Liberals hung Bush out to dry for not affording Guantanamo Bay foreign combatant detainees some measure of due process afforded US citizens. Yet, there are apparently few qualms, from leftist quarters, to afford much less than that to US citizens within the borders of the United States of America, itself.

Reminds me of all the professing "Christians" who justify supporting the most rabid baby killer in public life. Now Yugo Obummer may just start whacking American citizens in their own home even if he did promise Senator Paul it would be unconstitutional. But then when have democrats cared for the Constitution.

The only way I would support this if if American terrorists were going to set off a weapon of mass destruction with no other way to stop them. Then, after the act, evidence should have to be shown to a court that this action was necessary.
