NY State and the Minium Wage

    NY State allocates a certian amount of money to provide X amount of summer govt jobs to under privelage teens.

    Well, if the minium wage is passed, then less teens will be able to be hired UNLESS the States provides more money.

    Let me get this straight - the minium wage is passed - and MY taxes go up.

    What am I missing?:confused:


    From the link: Now, youth advocates said it's not that they don't support raising the minimum wage, they do, but not without increasing the program's budget as well. This year, they were allotted $25 million.
    "We're hoping we’ll receive an additional $10 million to assure that the summer youth employment program stays intact," said Negri.

    It would be better to lower the minimum wage and put some adults to work.

    People act like there is no fiscal crisis. The stock market increases can be attributed to the massive printing of money by Ben Bernanke and the Federal Reserve Board. Look at how high gasoline is since Bernanke started printing money! Of course, the farmers are fat and happy with all the money they are raking in with the ethanol boondoggle. The farmers are having to bale that money. Farmers will be voting Democrat.

    Be careful if you say that around here. You might just get a fat lip from farmers who are having to pay higher fuel costs, too. Fuel gets mighty expensive when pumps have to be run to irrigate cucumbers, for example.

    And, be extra careful around the fellow who bales HAY in our area for livestock feed. He might "accidently" skewer you with that boom he uses to lift those bales onto his truck.

    My FIL is a cattle farmer----he receives absolutely NO subsidies-----and is forced to cough up $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ for Diesel & Fertilizer out of his profits
