Does your church do anything special for Palm Sunday?

Do you do the Palm "thing"?

Is it necessary to pass out palms?

Pastors, what will you be preaching on next Sunday?

    Other thoughts?

We do the Palm thing and no it's not necessary to pass out palm branches, though there is a neat way that you can fold them to make a cross that makes for a great children's sermon

Don't have any palm fronds - they're hard to get around here! I would use them to decorate the sanctuary perhaps, if I were only organized enough to order in advance!

As to message - I will be "seasonal," so to speak - centered around Jesus' approach to Jerusalem when He wept.

Ask your local Catholic priest where he gets his...he probably has an oversupply.

Hey, good idea! Thanks for the tip!

I know that everything you say is in the spirit of brotherhood and helpfulness. So this couldn't possibly be sarcasm, could it! :type:

Okay, in truth, having palm fronds is not really that important to me. Would be a nice decoration though; maybe even for illustrative purposes. But don't worry, we've got banners up in the sanctuary now - an idea borrowed from the Methodists and Presbyterians!

Do any of your churches have Holy Week services, such as a Good Friday service?

    A Great Opportunity!

E,W&F said..."Ask your local Catholic priest where he gets his...he probably has an oversupply."

Hey USN...EWF's suggestion would give you a great "foot in the door" to be able to witness to the local Catholic "priest"about true salvation by grace though faith in Christ....amen??.....the downside is....he'll probably get mad and NOT give you the palm frods.

Interesting you mention that - we have spoken before on this very issue. Unfortunately, he's unmoveable on the issue of salvation. As a pre-Vatican II purist, he's convinced that the people can only be saved through the Roman Catholic church.

But I'm sure he would give me the palm fronds if he had extras. Like I said though, not many palm trees around here!

As for another question asked, we will be having a Thursday night Lord's Supper service, a "sunrise" service on Sunday - of course followed by a meal! After that, our regularly scheduled morning services.
