Is the Great Schism about to come to an end?

The one world religion is closer than we think.

 

2 things: the ecumenical patriarch ( or EP) is NOT the spiritual leader of the Eastern Orthodox. He is the bishop of Constantinople and of foreign lands that do not have an Eastern Orthodox heirarchy. He can mediate disputes....IF INVITED. Being EP does NOT = being the pope.

2nd.... I know some eastern orthodox people and used to be friends with a greek orthodox priest til he moved. I can safely this: they are NOT in communion with Rome nor will they be. Ever. You think baptists have a hard time with the idea of a pope, much less one who is infallible?

edit: not to mention that this article is on a catholic website. let's put it this way: roman catholics always talk like "yeah...we'll reunite one day and our church views the sacraments of their church as valid and if I had to, I could receive communion from an orthodox priest while Eastern orthodox people would say "no way would we ever take communion from a roman catholic priest." But Eastern orthodox priests are NOT allowed to knowingly serve communion to non-orthodox people. And most of them are instructed to NEVER take communion from anybody but an Eastern orthodox priest.

The ecumenical patriarch has no authority to make the other patriarchates join the roman church. That's like trying to say Alan Cairns has the authority to speak on behalf of all the free Presbyterian churches and compel them to join rome unilaterally. I know we all like to think that the RCC and EO churches are "so very close" in their theology and practice, don't be fooled.

The EO and RCC aren't going to come together anytime soon. They'll be amicable, but it'll be more like in-laws than a marriage.

 

Who cares if they unite, or not unite? They do nothing towards preserving the NT Church. The end result would be a bigger cult than the two that now exist. Maybe they can join with the Buddists and Shintos.

 

that is true, for what other "church" will have the resources and standing to bring all world religions togethe other than the catholic Church?
