I think the Fire is taught in a wrong manner with the Hell Fire Burning teachers that's gonna burn men forever--BUT I also DO NOT support what the bible calls SIN either--He doesn't really know what he believes I don't think---you can love the people behind that SIN--but you cannot support them in that SIN :godisgood::godisgood::godisgood:

Listened to the whole interview, not just the "juicy" parts. Bell has some interesting critiques of the church that we should hear.

As to the homosexual marriage issue, he said he supports marriage. Sounded like to me he was in favor of supporting monogamous, loving relationships between consenting adults. At least that's my reading between the lines of he what he said. It will be interesting to see how he expands and develops these thoughts moving forward. Need to read his new book as well, perhaps he touches on these sensitive issues and explains them a bit more. Though he is known for asking a lot of questions but not necessarily giving what he thinks are the answers.

The entire article can be summed-up here.

The ONLY one who has the right to rightly define what makes up a real marriage relationship, that puts the 2 in a bind relationship to each other before God is the One who instituted it...

And GOD already said its for 1 man and 1 woman, so that is all!

I don't just read things from people with which I agree. I'm not giving in on any issue just because culture is moving that direction. I am curious about his journey to this line of thinking however.

The San Francisco comment demeans faithful believers living there. "What good can come from Nazareth?"

It's a joke....you don't have to prove to us that you are more open-minded than the rest of us....We'll go ahead and concede that to you ok :)
This post is nothing but you handing us your personal "I'm open-minded and enlightened" resume' and we all get it ok

Bell at it again? He needs to go have a seat. enough of these New Age, skinny jeans wearing "thinkers" who feel they know better than what God says.

    Icon,
Something has either changed in you or me over the past month or so, because I find your posts refreshing where I got angry at them before. The article is unbelievable. There are lots of things we do in this life that can be debater as sin or not, such as drinking, smoking, gambling, you know, the Baptist obcessions. But homosexual marriage is without a doubt one of the clearest sins (and in my opinion disguisting sins, it ought to make a lost person throw up) that can be committed.

If we move away from God enough, and convince ourselves other standards are better long enough, we can come to accept anything. You know, up is down, black is white, the sun is so hot I froze to death, etc.

I think one of the surest signs of the end times (another thread how it happens) is the legalization, state by state, as we march towards a national standard of marrying the same sex. I think once this is passed, I want to start a movement to be allowed to marry my parakeets. (Not really sure how that will work out)

Life can be so enjoyable and simple if we just do what the Lord said. Yes there is room to debate your beer, wine etc, but there is no doubt that murder, homosexuality, adultery, stealing, lying, gossip are sins. End of story.

I want to say something about the fire he talks about. We always picture it as burning in a fire to death here on earth in some manner (note i did not mention Michael Servetus LOL). My own opinion is that is another case of our limited minds. I feel when the wrath of God gets hold of an unsaved person in eternity for all the sins, the snide remarks, others we hurt and used, slapping God in the face, etc, I believe when we feel that wrath, we are going to wish we were burning up in an earthly fire. I believe that description to be the best way we can understand it in this life.

It is kind of like trying to understand the spiritual and physical agony Jesus Christ felt on the cross for all the sins He paid for. It is impossible in our mind and language. If I was everyone on this board, I would not walk, but run away from the advice in this column.

    SN,
I used to think these national sins would "bring" the judgement of God upon us.Then I heard a message where the pastor pointed out that the open manifestation of sodomite sin is already the judgement of God upon the land.

    This exact language was used by God when he ejected the pagan nations out of the land before Israel...these same sins were listed...sodomite sins, beastiality, child sacrifice;

21 And thou shalt not let any of thy seed pass through the fire to Molech, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the Lord.

22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

23 Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is confusion.

24 Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out before you:

25 And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants.

26 Ye shall therefore keep my statutes and my judgments, and shall not commit any of these abominations; neither any of your own nation, nor any stranger that sojourneth among you:

27 (For all these abominations have the men of the land done, which were before you, and the land is defiled;)

28 That the land spue not you out also, when ye defile it, as it spued out the nations that were before you.

29 For whosoever shall commit any of these abominations, even the souls that commit them shall be cut off from among their people.

30 Therefore shall ye keep mine ordinance, that ye commit not any one of these abominable customs, which were committed before you, and that ye defile not yourselves therein: I am the Lord your God.
