LOL - The kids and I are doing the Couch to 5K program and we are on week 2. For some reason, I messed up the app and did week 2 day 1 twice so while we did week 2 day 3 today, we should have been on week 3 day 1. NO way could we have done that!! OY! It was HARD!! I'm really hoping we can do the week 3 day 1 on Wednesday but I have my doubts. I'm exhausted! Where is the fainting icon??

Actually, I love to run, but my doctor says "NO RUNNING !!!"

Walking is okay, but I have to be careful about any active sport such as racketball, playing a game of BB ( just shooting hoops is ok), football, ect is off limits.
Best exercise for me is swimming.

Say Ann, mark your calender for Sep 22-24 and attend the Bap Conv of NY (near Buffalo). On Monday AM, there will be a fun 5 K and 1 mile walk!. Hope I will be there

I have to say that it's getting a little easier and I'm finding the 3 minute runs are no longer killing me. :) We have one more day on week 3 (5 minute warmup, 2 minute run, 2 minute walk, 3 minute run, 2 minute walk, 2 run, 2 walk, 3 run, 5 walk) and then it's to week 4 - which increases the running time even more. It's a GREAT program and it does work your way up to running a 5K in 8 weeks so we're getting there! I'm almost enjoying it in fact!

Ah, that sounds great. I'd love to do something like that, but I seriously doubt we will ever do so.

What time of year will you be in Spain walking?

How many Km a day will you walk.

Last week my wife and I hiked 12.5 Km over pretty rough terrain here in the Czech Republic. I was happy we could still hike that far, but it was tough. We both decided that at our age, perhaps that was a bit too much for one day. One the flat or on a more gentle terrain perhaps, but not in really steep terrain.

It will get easier. There are 2 components, muscle fatigue and cardiopulmonary fatigue. They are related. As your muscles get stronger the breathing will get easier, allowing you to go farther, which further strengthens the muscles, which...you get the idea.

You want a real challenge? Try Insanity? The first week about killed me...and I'm not an untrained person! :)

Yep - I actually found that the next time I ran after this, it really WAS easier (not hugely but I felt like when she said "Walk Now", I could have kept going a bit longer. :)

You think I'm nuts???????? As it is, today is Monday and on Mondays I run and then go horseback riding. :)

Wow Crabtownboy.......summer is beautiful (as a rule) where you are.

There are a number of good websites for those contemplating the compestola pilgrimage.

It is such a long way I have not dared work it out. I hope to improve my endurance and fitness to 4km/hr, and then better that. As a pilgrim, one can stay at hostels and eat pilgrim food.......cheap (sometimes nasty) and food probably stodge but filling.

It is a goal for me (for the greater glory of God), but there are many folk who do the walk for more profane reasons. Keep me in your prayers eh!:wavey:
