    Yep.

I quit identifying as a Republican right before the 2008 elections because of my disagreement with the Neocon-driven foreign policy ("GWOT"). If more and more GOPers start warming up to queer-rights then I'm sure more of the base will be leaving the fold and become 'independent'.

Well, I too, am in a quandry. I was a republican until around 1995, when I switched to democrat. However, I never voted in the two elections BO was involved in, because I felt unsafe with either one. After someone told me that BO spoke of Jason Collins as a "hero", I am seriously considering jumping ship and going "independent". I think the democrats may have just lost another member of their party.

Dont worry, WV will pass the man to man marriage soon. I mean, cant you already marry your cat in WV (that is if you do not eat it first). LOL

On a serious note, I started off as a Republican in the late 60s and voted for Nixon (smooth move). I stayed on those rolls until 1989 when Bush became President. (obvious reasons). I was an independent. Then I switched to the Constitution Party in 2008. After attending their convention last year (national), I was so disguisted I basically have my membership parked back with the Republicans until I figure out something better to do. It is a no win situation, as both parties are dishonest and cannot be trusted with the trust of the Constitution or the American people. Each year, the two parties become more like clones of each other. I have never registered as a Democrat. As far as voting for Democrats since 1968, there have only been two. One was for Carter in 1976 against Ford (the Nixon pardon was my reasoning), then again in 1992 for over Bush (read my liberal lips). Other than that, all the rest have been Republican except one year for a third party. Sometimes I vote locally for Democrats.

I meant to tell you, I just got back from a trip to see my Dad in Waynesboro, VA. I live at the far western tip of KY. After I get to Ashland, basically I follow I 64 through WV until I get to the VA border. You have a beautiful state there. The roads are somewhat challanging because of the grades, curves and trucks. I believe when I was growing up, Dad drove the same route except at the time it was US 60. (two lane), Bet that is a real challange.

Can anyone see our country ever recover from blow after blow by the liberal ideology that even GOP seem to bow the knee to it.

    If God will it, yes.
I too left the republicans and am now an independent.

In the overall picture - what good does that do?
I contend you should get re-enroll in the Republican party - and then get active in your local Republican committee - that is where you can have a real voice in making choices for local elections - and then.....

There is a deep sickness working its way through the halls of power. It is infecting both Democrats and Republicans. We must fight it with our individual votes and individual prayers.
