The New BSA - Churches Beware?

    ********Churches Unite Against the Boy Scouts***********

    If all the true, Biblical World Vew churches drop scouting, maybe the message will resound loudly in their headquarters office of the BSA in Dallas. If I had a church that sponsored a unit or pack, it would turn in its sponsorship come this Tuesday! The church does not need scouting to let homosexuality get a foothold in its door. Beware, this is just the beginning. Churches need to take immediate action! Sin has found a backdoor into its congregation. Don't let it continue!

    Think about this: Scouting units are usually integrated within the church programs, and when the units/packs are invited to participate [with parents involved] at church outings, events and special services [i.e., Memorial Day, Fourth of July - by bringing in the flags, leading the church in the pledge], the new rules will mean homosexuals may be attending your church.

    I know this will draw ire from some of you, and I am not against opening our doors to homosexuals, but I concerned that permitting homosexual organizations to be supported by your church will send a message of that particular church supporting homosexuality.

    There is an old saying: "Guilty by association!"

    Personally speaking, the church does not need scouting if, in fact, it is willing to bow to sin.

    NOW for those who will think I am narrow minded....well, maybe I am! :thumbs: I am not saying the church shouldn't minister to gays or lesbians, it just shouldn't openly support organizations that openly allow homosexuality to be a part of its program.

    So, jump on me all you want. Please share your opinions, but don't expect to change mine, or believe you can engage me in your desire to critique my opinions and views. I know who you are, and it is perfectly fine with me for you to shout me down. For sure, I am not going to change your views and opinions as to how to minister to these folks. Just don't be upset that I believe differently abd when I don't respond. I have my beliefs about this poor choice by scouting, and I stand by it. :wavey:

    I see this shift in scouting to be a backdoor for the sin of homosexuality to permeate the halls of our churches.

    The church needs to take a stand, or it will get worse before it gets better!

    Honestly, I don't think a church needs to have outside secular organizations within the church walls. We have Boy's Brigade which is a Boy Scout-like organization but with the view that boys are to be trained up by godly men to be godly men. There's a big difference in the basic premise there.

    I probably have more of an agreement with Annsni that the OP. If a church chooses to sponsor a Boy Scout troop, whether it is in just providing space or more than that, then they should not be bothered with who they allow into their troops.

    I do think that churches need to be conscientious of who uses their facility, although I do not necessarily have a problem with them allowing whomever they choose, gay or not gay, use the facility.

    In a way I agree with you, but some kids may only visit a church because the church sponsored Boy Scouts.

    Groups such as Awana and Boys Bde are great, but some parents may not allow their kids to attend a "religious" group.

    I heard today that about 70% of troops are sponsored by churches. The question is: how many of those churches are Evangelical?

    Final question - now that BSA will allow homosexuals to join - does that mean a troop is required to accept the applicant. As long as a church has the right to discriminate,....

    But on the other hand, a church sponsored club could allow the homosexual boy (or girl - Explorers) to join - as long as they realize that such inappropriate action will not be tolerated.
    then would the church have an opportunity to be a witness.
