Local Church Bilble Publishers and bible for ordination?

    Which one of LCBP's offererings would be the best for a pastoral ordination?

    Or, which one would YOU want to be given at your ordination?

    Interesting, I've never heard of them before. Though I don't use the KJV, and have no problem with those who do, if I were looking for a Bible for ordination I would chose either:

    Wide Margin 390 Series in Executive Black Three piece

    Note Takers 400 Series in Executive Three Piece Tan

    Man, if they were to expand beyond the KJV (not sure if its a theological thing) I'd buy a couple of Bibles from them. The cost would likely go up for other translations, but the product looks like it would be outstanding. If I could get a HCSB in one of these I'd buy four or five. Though I use an iPad for my notes, I always use a physical text when I preach.

    This man is going to pastor a KJV-only church, so I think it would be in poor taste to present him with nothing but. And thanks to everyone who didn't turn this into a lifeless equine tenderizing thread.

    I have also been thinking about getting him a wide margin Bible since he is THE note man!

    BTW, these folks make very NICE Bibles. I own two of them myself.

    My husband was presented with an Allan ESV when he was ordained. He had a choice of which translation and he wanted the ESV. But MAN, the Allan is gorgeous!!!!!!

    Have you seen the Schuyler Ann? It's beautiful also. Evangelical Bible.com sells them. They're a little cheaper than Allan's. I've got my eye on a single column NKJV. Maybe Christmas? :laugh:

    The truth is that the text of D. A. Waite’s The Defined King James Bible is not the “Cambridge 1769 Text” “unaltered” as implied on the title page.

    There would be well over 400 alterations or differences between an actual edition printed at Cambridge in 1769 and the edition in Waite’s Defined KJB. Perhaps D. A. Waite has never actually seen and examined an edition of the KJV that was printed at Cambridge in 1769. A couple years ago Waite was mailed the documented evidence that lists many of the actual alterations, but still the incorrect claim remains on an edition printed with a 2012 copyright date.

    The title page of the DKJB can be properly asserted to have misinformed its readers.

    :thumbs: I second this. I have the 3 piece tan and it is hands down my favorite Bible. Beautiful cover, and ample room for note taking.

    The Bride and I bought a note taker Bible for our wedding gifts to each other. I bought her the black 1 piece and she bought me the black 3 piece so we could tell them apart at a glance. We love them!


    Wide margin is nice but I stick by the recommended note taker (Especially if he is "the note man"). The more modern font and single column text is nice as well

    I think it will hold up to the rigors of reading and whatnot.

    I see lots of people at our church with bibles that just don't hold up over time.

    I have a few old bibles that I think I'm going to have re-bound so they last longer.

    At any rate, thanks for the heads up everyone. I guess I can report back about which one I will choose.

    I Obviously Misunderstood the OP

    It seems I obviously misunderstood the question in the OP. I thought he was inquiring about local church(es) that publish Bibles. I forgot that there actually is one NAMED LCBP! I went looking and I actually do have a link to them in my favorites list. My bad....guess I was having a senior moment! The problem is that here lately those things are lasting for DAYS instead of just "moments"!:tear::laugh: Bt the way...I agree...LCBP does have excellent stuff.

    Yes they do. They put the giants like Thomas Nelson to shame (they don't make a decent Bible anymore).

    Yeah. My giant print that my wife bought me for our wedding in 2002 is falling apart. I guess I'm going to get that re-bound at some point---it also was a Thomas Nelson.

    I have a giant print Holman, but I KNOW it won't take any abuse.

    I really think I'm going to go with the Notetakers bible.

    I also think I might have to get something for myself from LCBP too, but I don't know what to get....
