How many reformed/Non Reformed calvinists here?

    Would you see a difference between those 2 cal groups, and how they respond/post here on the BB?

    There is a difference. Reformed are typically reformed baptists, there are not really many well known covenental reformed baptists but there are many out there that are not so well known.

    The non reformed calvinists are those that are typically closer to John MacArthur. They would tend to be calvinists but dispensational.

    I will say that a calvinist is a much more precise definition that reformed. There are 5 specific doctrines that make you a calvinist, being reformed is not quite as easily defined.

    I am in the MacArthur camp of calvinism, as do still hold to Dispy views, but also the 5 points of calvinism...

    Check the archives on this, as been spirited at times between those of us trying to rightly divide who is/is not a "real calvinist!"

    The 5 points are well documented. There is nothing about baptism or dispensationalism etc in those 5 points.

    I have heard that some presbyterians won't consider a reformed Baptist as being reformed if they don't believe in peado baptism.

    I used to think Reformed and Calvinist were interchangeable, but the more I read here on the BB, I'm thinking they're not, particularly among Baptists.

    So, instead of Reformed or Calvinist, I'm going to adopt the description, DoG.
    Make that Junkyard DoG, if you'd like.

    I was raised in a Presbyterian home and my father and most at the church we attended didn't believe Baptist could be true to Calvin's teaching.

    yes, as those who are Reformed calvinists, regardless wether presby/Baptist, tend to see it as Must have Dog AND whole system of calvinism, while amny baptists like myself hold to DoG, yet still are Dispy...

    many baptist also are 4 pointers in DoG, balk at limited/unlimited atonement, so that also makes them "suspect" in some eyes as being 'real calvinists!"
