We have no business involving the United States in any aspect of the conflict. If it is that dire of a threat to the United States, Congress should declare war on Syria and go for a quick decisive victory and rapid exit.

I started to post a new thread about this. Glad I did a search and found many had already been posted!

I've been against our arming these rebels since I 1st heard about the Benghazi scandal. I don't think these rebels are our friends at all. Many have ties to people we have been fighting, and people who hate us and our allies.

I recently wrote my Senators, politely expressed my views and encouraged them to take a stand against us arming the rebel factions. One senator wrote me back and said that its our responsibility to stand with our allies, etc, etc. Sort of like standing with the rebels means standing with our allies.

Today I wrote him back. It seems the Vatican has confirmed the beheading of a Catholic priest in Syria. Franciscan Father Francois Murad was killed by Syrian jihadists on June 23. Catholic Online reports jihadits accused Father Francois of collaborating with the Assad regime.

The publication has obtained this video it believes shows his beheading.

I didn't watch the video but I understand that it is pretty graphic.

According to a news release from the Vatican published by Catholic Online, Murad was killed in Gassanieh, in northern Syria, in the convent of the Custody of the Holy Land where he had taken refuge.

The news release states, “The circumstances of the death are not fully understood. According to local sources, the monastery where Fr. Murad was staying was attacked by militants linked to the jihadi group Jabhat al-Nusra.”

Ok, here's where it links together:

This is the same group that we are sending arms and aid to. These are the sort of people that John McCain posed for a photograph with and held talks with. This is the same group I wrote my senator about. But noooOOOOoooo....they are our allies! [IMG]

Mohammad Nour, is the chief spokesman and photographer for the Northern Storm Brigade, one of many groups who make up the Syrian rebels.

The militant group Jabhat al-Nusra in Gassanieh, killed this poor priest in northern Syria, in the convent of the Custody of the Holy Land where he had taken refuge.

Jabhat al-Nusra has been listed as a foreign terrorist organization. And the leader of the National Coalition for Opposition Forces and the Syrian Revolution (Moaz al-Katib) has asked that we remove al- Nusra from this terrorist list.

These are the sort of people we are dealing with now. We are supplying Al-Quaida linked terrorist groups with arms and who knows what else. Senator John McCain has asked that we give these killers heavy weaponry.

(Btw, contacting your elected officials is an important way to participate and try to influence your govt. You can get in touch with them at WWW.USA.gov ).
