Yes, I have read about them in Hebrews 10:25 and 1 Tim. 4:1.

Sorry, I did not properly explain, as I did not want to give their web page.

They have two kinds of membership -
    1) Local/resident
    2) Non-local

Say the church is in Atlanta, Ga (it is not) and you live in Tim-buc-tu, Montana;(next door neighbor of Mont974x4 :wavey:) you can be an "extended member" of the church. Just be sure to send your offerings.

A big difference than what Heb is talking about.

Not really. Both equally forsake the actual assembly.

How does a resident member who is active in his church be considered forsaking the assembly?

I was responding to the "extended" membership concept not the localized active membership concept. If you respond they are inseparable in this view then you are saying nothing more than the "invisible universal church theory" where the localized body is nothing is a visible extension of the whole.

Okay, let me spell it out for you.
there is a local church with resident membership. Those members drive to the church, listen to the preacher in person, teach in the sunday School, stand and sing in the choir.
In addition the church has a website, TV, Radio and streaming of the church services. They invite people who are not local area residents to be Extended members. (I realize I did not make this clear in the OP - but I did explain it in post # 3)

So my question (from the OP ) Is it something your church would consider?

Ok, my mistake! Yes, I have heard of this conept. There was a round table discussion at Southern Seminary on this concept. I think it can still be found on their website. I looked into it about five years ago.
