Excellent link and will give credit where credit is due to Dr. James. Jesus Christ is the name above all others. We are here to worship the One who died on the cross for our sins. We are not here to worship His name, His miracles, or His genealogy.

Paul even mentions following Christ for the wrong reason, when he mentions the division of followers of John, Paul, Peter, and Barnabas. Jesus Christ is His name, but it is not His name that saved us. It is He who saved us, because He was willing to go to the cross to save the likes of us.

I do not know who is making an issue of this, but they are focused on the wrong subject.

    As a side note...

Amen to what you said and I would also add that Psalm 138:2 also teaches us that He even magnifies His word above His name. The "namers" are making much ado about something that even the Lord doesn't. The put the cart before the horse. That said...I love God's names and rejoice in the hearing of them.

You know Brother Greg, sometimes putting the cart before the horse lands people in hell. Consider the main theme of James. Good works before salvation are worthless. No works after salvation means no salvation. The order in this case determines eternal destiny.

    Good article by Parsons.

I think I may have read this some time ago, but the way my brain works any more I am not sure. LOL

But Parsons is right. His name is Jesus Christ. He is found both in the Old and New Testaments.

he might know who you are referring unto---but does he accept it ???

he named his Son Yeshua man named him jesus

You may be talking about the Son of Yah but you are using a un-inspired name to do it !!!

no need whatsoever to change the true name of Yeshua when its very understandable and pronounceable to us . kinda like changing your name of Bill to Bob because you don't like the ill and like the ob--your father named you Bill NOT bob-

I'm kinda partial to "Bob" myself!

Just curious, do you use the Hebrew pronunciation for all the Bible characters or just for Jesus?

God named Noah, but after the tower of Babel, I'm sure there were multiple pronunciations for the same name.

He's taking his argument to this thread where I am trying to give him some lessons in languages, but if he won't listen to a Jew about Hebrew he wouldn't listen to a radio about sound.

    Doesn't hurt to learn them--for instance Jacob=Yacob,,Job=Yob

what does Esther sound like to you---Easter ?? Easter was a Pagan holiday that showed forth the resurrection of their god called Tammuz--the only begotten son of the moon goodness and sun god

Ishtar means easter also--could not these same pagans have translated the name that we know of as Esther to this in the English form to represent their god Tammuz ???

and also changing from Saturday to Sunday--these same pagan could have changed it to Sunday to represent their SUN god and their god Tammuz.

are we so compassed with Pagan sources with our holidays and other days and names and words that we are so blinded by it ?????

No offence to you friend at all---but I have a lot better Hebrew jewish informants than you and they know the importance of the Hebrew names and meanings and sounding of them.

But like I said---tnk you for the offer ---no offence to you at all--im sure you have some knowledge on the subject.:1_grouphug::1_grouphug:

Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I don't think of pagan gods when I hear the name Esther or when I look at my weekly calendar.

Amen! I have to ask at this point, how much longer do we have to put up with reading the defiled posts that HW is putting in the Baptist Only section. It is clear from his beliefs that he is not Baptist.

But you are celebrating(if you celebrate it)a pagan Man made holiday that represents another god--therefore all who participates in it whether knowing or blinded is giving honor the the sun-god.

same way with Halloween ---Christmas--- and I speak of celebrating those holidays as the traditional ways that they are celebrated.

I agree I don't think of pagan gods when I hear esther nor when I look at my calendar.

But I don't support nor take part in these pagan holidays either--they are to be abhorred and not to be practiced.

neither do the masses think of pagan gods when they participate in them---because the Pagans has inter-mingled their gods and ways into them--and the masses are blind unto it--it seems like a good thing on the masses part.

Apparently you've never celebrated Christ's birth or His glorious resurrection with a real Christian family. Trust me, these celebrations are ALL about Him with absolutely no thought of paganism.

I, personally, do not think God is displeased any time we celebrate His Son's birth or His resurrection.

We are not talking about my name, given by my earthly father. Further, you seem to have forgotten the third member of the Godhead and what He does on our behalf.

    Romans 8: KJB
26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

One closing question. Why do you use an English spelling of His name? Why aren't you using His name, as it was originally penned at the inspiration of God?
