Rev, a hyper-literalist would be someone who states, "The Bible says it, so I believe it" without understanding context or the figure of speech employed. The Univeralist would be guilty of this when reading 1 Timothy 2:4 He would interpret "desires" as God's decree. The Seventh Day Adventist, or anyone who wants to add works to salvation, may read Christ's reference to the Law (c.f. Matthew 5:18) as proof that the entire Law has not been abrogated.

Someone who reads symbolic language as literal would be my guess.

When Jesus uses humor, take the log out of your eye, they might claim Jesus was actually referring to a trunk of a tree. When Jesus uses hyperbole, hating our parents, rather than honoring them, they might say both are true, but assert the paradox rather than interpret hate to mean far less than we love Christ.

But lets balance this out with those that nullify everything that literally says their doctrine does not fit with scripture. We are to study and show ourselves approved, rightly dividing the word of truth.

If we rewrite scripture, changing choice to non-choice, love and draw to irresistible grace, from or after to before, we are failing to be literal enough.

How can drawing not be effectual calling?

When the Greek word translated draw is used metaphorically, it means to persuade, not compel. God draws us with lovingkindness, thus He attracts us with His love, such as Christ sacrificing Himself on the cross for us. Thus, if we behold Christ high and lifted up, we are drawn by His love for us.

The whole premise of "effectual calling" is an invention of men, never mentioned in the bible. Some hear the call of the gospel, but do not understand. Some hear and receive it, but make no deep heart felt, well rooted, commitment to Christ. Others, hear and receive, yet do not put Christ on the throne of their heart but make Him sit among other treasures of this world. Still others, those that have been cultivated, planted and watered believe from their heart and treasure Christ alone, forsaking all other treasures of this world. God then credits their faith as righteousness and puts them spiritually in Christ.
