    This is somewhat political - but I want to keep it i the Baptist Only section.

    What are your thoughts about this.

    I started reading the article but never really got to the quotes.

    Uhh... straw-man much? As far as I know, not one so called "conservative Christian fundamentalist" (by which I assume they mean any Christian who is truly born again and actually believes the cardinal doctrines of Christianity) has sought to crush separation of church and state nor sought to establish a state religion.

    Again, either I'm REALLY out of the loop with national news - or the writer of this article is merely trying to push an agenda. I vote option 2.

    Pretty clear to me.

    I read the article, and agree with most quotes, but disagree with a few. Government and freedom to worship as we see fit should never mix. If you think everyone should think like you do, then change their hearts.

    Agree or disagree, I will take a Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Madison, Franklin, and Hancock over a Bush, Clinton, Bush or Obama.

    Salty, I trust that website about as much as I trust the IRS. Conservatives don't want a Christian state. Liberals can't stand that we were founded by men who believed in the Almighty and looked to Him for guidance, and they don't like it. Sure some over zealous Christians do embellish some of what was originally said and done in our founding, but that doesn't diminish that we were founded upon many Christian principles. :wavey:

    I found this on a liberal facebook page. In regards to "separation of church and state" I posted "then you must be thankful for John Leland" his answer was you are full of (**@)
    then he posted a few minutes later and said he found out who Leland was - but he did not say much about it. They consider me to be a far right wing nut case. Whats ironical - is that Poncho probally thinks I am way too liberal!

    Sure is interesting that those folks who demand we be so open minded are so closed minded.
    I have asked several questions - but they will not answer them-.....

    the truth is that the Founders intended that the Govt shall NOT intrude/estabish a state religion, NEVER that the religion could not be in society, and part of the normal discourse!

    they would have seen NO problem with having either prayers and bile reading in public schools, but would have a big problem with laws prohibiting that, as that would retrict the free exercise of religious beliefs!
