    If we as Baptists kept all of our beliefs and distinctive as that we practice now, but the, for example, the SBC and the state organizations had governing authority over the local churches, what would be the major change based on other denominations with a hierarchy?

    Its a purely hypothetical question.

    So here is my hypothetical answer.

    If there were Baptists who had a hierarchy - there would be several who would read their Bible, determine the HBC (Hierarchy Baptist Convention) was not scriptural and would start the CBC (Cooperative Baptist Convention)!!!!!

    I couldn't answer that brother SN because I am completely adverse to it in the 1st place. Maybe cause I come from 32 years as a Roman Catholic (and never want to go back)

    My guess is that the Baptists would become like the Methodists, whose conference determines who will pastor each church. Individual churches would have no say-so.

    Another thing that would be uncharacteristic for Baptists is making love standing up. Someone might think they are dancing.
