My surgery is July 16th....

    I'll have my complete hysterectomy and lymph node removal in a couple of days, Tuesday 16th (I don't know what time - they said they will call me tomorrow). I'm looking forward to it being over. [​IMG]

    I'm having it done robotically-assisted (I feel like Judy Jetson!)

    The surgeon (not my local regular ob/gyn) said that last time I saw her that her only concern is if the cancer has moved to the muscle tissue and I might have to have a couple of rounds of radiation - but if that's the worst, I can manage that.

    It's taken a long time (over 5 weeks) because this is the first chance she can get to me and my local doctor says that she is the best of the best and he wouldn't send a patient of his to any other surgeon anywhere. And, I have been impressed with her and have gotten resounding testimonies from other people about her. So while I don't feel good about having waited until the middle of July, I feel really good about the surgeon.

    My only concern is that school starts in about 4.5 weeks and I want to be 110% strong - mentally as well as physically. It's been a bad year - my mother has been very (grievously) sick and I haven't talked about it - but that's another thread. I would appreciate your prayers for a quick jump back on my feet.

    I will be praying! Can I recommend two things for you?

    * Today, start hydrating yourself well. Make sure you drink plenty of fluids between now and when you can't have anything else by mouth. I found with my surgeries, when I was hydrated, I recovered significantly faster.

    * Go out for a walk tomorrow if you can. Get some sun, get some fresh air. Pray and meditate on God's Word. I find that also helps a lot - to get a little exercise the day before (but not a lot, especially if it's very hot).

    I pray that God guides the doctors' and robot's hands tomorrow and that what they find will please them - because it's even less than they thought!! ((HUGS))!!

    Thanks everybody. Annsni, I am drinking a lot of water - thanks. I like water. And it's been unseasonable cool for July here (about 89 degrees). The 4th of July was in the low 80's and that's incredible. I do walk on my treadmill, but I think I will walk outside tomorrow. Thanks for the tip.

    LOL - We're forecasted to be in the low 90s this week and we're already complaining! I want my 80 degrees back!

    Dear Lord please give the medical staff careful and wise hands. Give her body the strength it needs to endure the surgery. And when you answer these prayers we will be careful to give you all the praise and the glory.

    We will be praying for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery for you!
    Count on our prayers for you on July 16th and we will not stop praying until you are back
    to health again!!

    cont'd....also - your recovery should be quicker with the robotic, but do not be afraid to take the pain medication prescribed and do not be tempted to go without or to get behind - your body will heal faster if it is not busy dealing with the pain.

    Scarlett O. We are continue to pray that your healing will be miraculous in such a way that you will be able to glorify the Lord this school year!

    Thanks so much. The doctor said I can go to work the first day the kids come back - the 19th.

    I did go back for the past three days and work on my rooms - I am moving rooms (and a good bit away from my old one). The staff moved the heavy stuff and I really appreciated that, but I am really tired today.

    But I'm grateful for the recovery and no treatments.
