What is a "social engineer"?

I think in the context the lawyer was speaking a social engineer is a person who seeks ways to exploit the most vulnerable part in computer sercurity systems. The human being.

Yes there are schools where one can earn a degree in social engineering.

 

I think that a social engineer is someone who tried to influence people's behavior or the culture in some way. I would think that the current trend to 'normalize' gay marriage and the gay lifestyle would be an example of social engineering.

Social engineering may be accomplished in a variety of ways. I think the Nazis did this with propaganda films. Jews and mentally ill or deformed people were demonized in those films. The Palestinians are currently demonizing Jews with propaganda films and educational programs.

 

A social engineer is also one who can lead the herd to slaughter without causing a stampede.

Not much surprises me these days CMG I'm old enough that I still remember when people we're presumed innocent until proven guilty. Remember back when the media used the word "alleged"? There's another thread in current events about stores not carrying Rolling Stone magazine because the "Boston Bomber" is on the cover. I find it strange that no one seemed to notice the social engineering taking place right there on the cover. I don't see the "Boston Bomber" on the cover. I see the accused or the alleged or the suspect in the Boston bombing.

In this day and age the media has taken it upon itself to be judge and jury. Imho that is not free speech it's social engineering or to be a bit less politically correct, mass mind control.

I'm also old enough to remember when "reasonable suspicion" allegedly replaced probable cause. It was 1978-79.

I believe I may have come up with a definition of a social engineer. Firstly, what is social engineering?

Social engineering = the philosophical corruption of reality.

So therefore a social engineer is one who seeks to corrupt reality.

Does that make sense to you?
