When I was a kid there were dozens of cowboy and military TV shows. Now the closest show would be NCIS.

Would you like to see a return of C & M shows?

If so, would you prefer remakes of Gunsmoke, Combat, and ect; or would you rather just see something brand new?

If they stayed true to the original then, sure.

I remember a couple of years ago, they tried to bring back Dragnet. It was actually very good and, while it lacked Joe's Friday's sermonizing, it was very close to the radio version that spawned the TV show. Once you get over Al Bundy as Joe Friday, it was very good and I was sorry when it was cancelled.

On the other hand, they also tried to bring back the Dragnet spinoff, Adam-12, and it was truly, truly awful.

I also remember that, in the wake of the popularity of Lonesome Dove, they tried to capitalize on that and bring back Bonanza, with the sons of Adam, Hoss, and Little Joe running the Ponderosa. It wasn't bad. It just wasn't very good.

But I've often wondered why children today couldn't have a Roy Rogers, or a Davey Crockett, or a Sheriff Taylor to look up to.

I still remember my cowboy hero was Hopalong Cassidy. The Lone Ranger was a close second.

Too bad they don't have shows like that any more.

The TV Land channel does show some of the old Andy Griffith shows as well as Bonanza, but they're usually only aired in the mornings. The shows that TV Land actually produces are pathetic and not worth wasting your time.

I also remember watching shows like "Victory at Sea" and a lesser known one called "Air Power." These were basically WW2 documentaries rather than drama-type shows.

As for the broadcast network shows they now have.....they're pretty much all trash.
