Trayvon Martin's parents and brother made their first public appearances on "Today" Thursday morning, telling Matt Lauer they'd felt certain all along that George Zimmerman was going to prison -- and asserting that race fueled the tragic confrontation.

"Still shocked, still in disbelief," said Martin's father, Tracy. "We felt in our hearts that we were gonna get a conviction. We thought that the killer of our unarmed child was gonna be convicted of the crime that he committed."

Lauer asked Tracy how he felt about Juror B37's comments that racial profiling did not play a part in the case. Tracy disagreed with her: "I think that if Trayvon had been white this wouldn't have never happened," he said. "Obviously race is playing some type of role."

I'm sorry this happened. I think it was bad all around and maybe, if "Traybone" had lived, he might have turned his life around and not been a violent thug. But the bottom line is that he chose the life of a thug and paid for it with his life.

Grief or not, I don't believe there's any excuse for the parents wanting to seek revenge against their son's victim.

They say this, and yet, while Zimmerman is not white, he is perceived as white. And yet, in spite of his being perceived as white, the AG of the state of Florida, the news media, and various race pimps launched an all out war against him. So tell me again how his race helped him.

Now I am very sorry for what happened to her son, and in their grief I would excuse anything Trayvon's parents say, but what would have been different?

Would George stayed in his car if it had been a white kid? Was he even sure Trayvon was black? On the recorded phone call when the operator asked if the kid was white, black or hispanic George said he "Looked Black." to me that indicates George was not even sure what race Trayvon was.

Once Trayvon had confronted George and was on top of him beating him down does anyone think George would not have shot if he had been white?

Race was not a factor, "Stand your ground" was not a factor. The defence offered by George was self defense and the jury agreed with him.

Most black people would answer YES to that as they are routinely accosted by cops, store security, etc, just because they are Black.

To a lot of folks , that speaks to him acknowledging what he thought the race was and pursuing him because of the other robberies by Blacks.

I think, very similar to what Trayvon's mother said that had Trayvon been white, Zimmerman probably would not have followed him and there never would have been a confrontation.

That's the systemic prejudice that people don't want to acknowledge. It exists and simply is what it is.

Race was indeed a factor. In the words of one of Zimmerman's neighbors, who herself is Black:

Perhaps Zaac thinks all black people are in lock-step with each other, and are not capable of individual thought.

The non-doctored tapes show he was following Martin before he knew he was black.

That's about what Blacks expect non-Blacks to say. This board so makes my point.

Nope. I said MOST. You said ALL.

The non-doctored tapes show he was following Trayvon Martin while presuming he was Black as he indicated to the 911 dispatcher.

I know how you like yer little word games, But you are the generalizer, here. And you obviously have not heard the non-doctored tapes.

I know you and your ilk need racism to be a part of this, but it's gone into silly season a long time ago. He wasn't following him because he was black. he was following him, more likely, because his neighborhood had turned into a B&E free-for-all.

And before you put words in my mouth, Trayvon's "cracker" response is not racist. He didn't attack Zimmerman because he was white.

    Zimmerman has black friends.
Trayvon most likely had white friends.

When you say most, I think about the people I have worked with over the past 15 years. We have always had open dialogue about the prejudice state we live in. While they have shared stories of how they have grown up living in a region where racism runs deep and wide, none of them have ever stated that they have been routinely accosted by cops, store security just because they are black. That is something that would have come up in our conversations.

Most would answer yes? I would say not.

My wife and I just came from church, we intended to eat at Country Buffet.
We just got out of our vehicle and walking towards the restaurant's door, when I noticed two cops, one white, one black, frisking a black man.
    I stopped and listened.
The young man was saying EXACTLY what somebody described.
The cops were messing with him because he was black.
I looked around, and there were other young black men and women in the street.
Some of them were looking, but they didn't seem to concerned about the fact that this black man was single out.
So why was this young man singled out ?
Because he had long corn-rows, thick, full beard, very loose and very long white t-shirt hanging over a kimono-length shorts almost covering his ankles because he wore it almost half-way down to his groin with his underpants displayed, and he smelled of WEED.
I looked at the other black kids and they were dressed in better attire and a little more clean-looking than the young man, who was later handcuffed because joints were found on him.
The cops were just doing their job, one addict or pusher off the street, and the community safer.
My feeling is that if the guy had been white, or Hispanic, or Asian, and he looked that way, which is standard I guess of how "tough guys" looked, the cops would still have stopped him and frisked him.
Now, were the cops right in singling him out ?
    I guess yeah.
They know their police intelligence on gangbangers and such like.
    I don't.

I lived in FL. from 4th through 12th (Okeechobee and West Palm Beach - poor side) and the 1st year of College (which was in Tampa) and many of my friends are black and nephew is half, and none of them will tell you 'yes'. In fact 'all' of the will tell anyone who will listen, it is a minority of blacks who make such accusations and most often because they are in areas where such events happen due TO blacks doing them. That doesn't discount that racism does sometimes show up on one side of the fence or another.. but it does show this is not a standard view you say is so.

To a lot more people, that don't try to find race in everything, don't see it as such. Now I'm NOT saying it isn't there. I'm saying there isn't enough of any kind of evidence to prove one way or another.

Any proof,or shall continue with the race card pretending it was race based. Zimmerman does not even consider himself 'white'!

The very fact she made the statement establishes unquestionably that she, herself, is prejudice.

No, race is a factor AFTER the fact. In fact, it is racism that is causing 'you' and others to continue going after him even when there was NO evidence to prove he broke the law, nor that he was acting upon racist views.

And Zimmerman should sue for slander. He's innocent. The judicial system said so. So, what they are saying is a lie, ie "crime that he committed".

And after reading all this, I still stand by my claim, Zaac. You are a part of the problem, not the solution. The evidence clearly showed no guilt on the part of Zimmerman. It was as plain as day. Only someone who is a reverse racist would think that justice hasn't been served. Either that, or someone who has only listened to mass media's blatant lies. I am not going to present the facts here, as that would be redundant. But it is obvious that Zimmerman wasn't guilty.

Not only would I sue for slander, I'd sue both the state of Florida and the USDoJ for civil rights violations.

If possible, I'd sue the Martin family.

I can't even stomach watching CNN's two channels the past few days. During the trial they would put on guest arguing both points of views, I think they wanted to look "fair and balanced" because they were banking on a guilty verdict and then they could really bash the pro-law pro-evidence guest speakers. Now that justice has been served and Zimmerman found not guilty, they have dropped the voices of reason and are now putting up only Trayvon Martin supporters. They are rejecting the facts and peddling the Zimmerman was a stalker/murderer narrative.

He's killed one young man already and still doesn't now whether or not there will be DOJ charges or a civil suit.

He'd do well to lay low and keep his mouth shut.

And it was proven that Trayvon was the cause of his own death by attacking Zimmerman just because he didn't like the way Zimmerman was keeping an eye on him. Even Rachel Jeantel admitted Trayvon was the attacker, she said Trayvon didn't want to kill Zimmerman, just give him a good ole whippin. Unfortunately for Trayvon, he didn't think it through, not expecting a gun to be on his victim's side.

As far as keeping his mouth shut, I suppose he would love nothing more than to fade away and be forgotten. Unfortunately, the racist will have no part in letting the issue rest. They love keeping the pot stirred.

You are right - he did kill a man - but it was not murder.
