He seems to be a wonderfully positioned man to help reposition a challenged agency.

BTW, for as much as I appreciate Dr Moore and his ministry, I still say the SBC should shut down the ERLC and use the money to start churches all over the world.

Apparently we need it since we are now making church planters in North America raise half of their own support now.

Half? No, try 100%. At least that's my understanding from my recent trip to a NAMB MSC training meeting.

I knew some were raising their own, but I was unaware this was a mandate of some sort.

Unfortunately, the issue of religious liberty is going to be an increasing concern for Christians so it's good to have a voice. If I were to make cuts I would start with the seminaries, they are the only arm outside of Lifeway that can generate income.

Yes, even those who have been supported 100% by NAMB are being asked to raise their own support.

I don't think it's a bad idea, but I think pastors might start cutting back on Lottie Moon offerings.

I don't what the budget number for the ERLC is, can't be huge, but if you had to raise 100%, why bother going through the headaches of working with NAMB? They'll take your money once you established

It is a terrible idea. That is the primary thing that set us apart from everyone else. The freedom for the work was unparallelled. Now our missionaries have to go out and peddle for money every year.

To the contrary. 100% of the support goes to the missionary. But yes, I agree with you on the headaches part.
