......Be generous & Make your checks payable to. REALLY, come on:rolleyes:

Here is what I get in the e-mail today. How did ya get my name? I aint even a Catlik!

Catholic Answers is in the middle of a severe financial shortfall. To protect the ministry's future, we have had to take several very painful steps:

We have had to let several staff members go.
The remaining staff has taken pay cuts averaging 26%.
We will not be filling additional positions to expand the ministry's work.
We have had to cut back on our current apostolic efforts because we simply do not have the people.
Even after making these cuts, we still need to raise about $300,000.

[CLICK HERE TO HELP CATHOLIC ANSWERS NOW.]

We very much need help from our forum members to overcome the current shortfall and get the ministry back where it needs to be.

Summer is always a difficult time for Catholic Answers, and this summer has been especially hard on the ministry.

Please be as generous as you can at this time.

    Thank you for your generosity.

Because doing that would set a precedent. Then they would have to dip into their pockets in order to keep open other churches, hospitals & schools.

I notice BB has no problem accepting Catholic advertising to support this forum. Wonder what else 'poor deluded Catholics do with their money'. Let's compare it to Baptists!

There are many Catholic Charities working with the poor, some are in the third world and some work at home. One such charity is CAFOD, they also help in times of disasters such as the recent ones in the Phillipines.
There are many religious orders who work with the poor, the homeless, drug addicts and alcoholics, single mothers, homes for orphans, the elderly and children.
There is also the SVP, the Society of St Vincent of Paul. There is usually a branch in every Catholic Church and they help the poor and needy in the parish. Do you have anything like that in EVERY Baptist church? No, many do NOTHING of the sort. I was a member for a Baptist church that gave out a few food baskets at Thanksgiving for needy members of THAT church. Ashamed I stayed as long as I did.

There are also many Catholics who volunteer to help in soup kitchens, homeless centers, some go out on the streets to help those in need and at this time of year help with the Shoebox appeal, sending gifts to children in poor countries who would otherwise not receive any Christmas present.

Many parishes are twinned with another in a third world country and help them financially and materially with any needs that they may have. Also praying for them.
The poorest person is the one who does not know Jesus Christ. The Church tries to show the love of Jesus and his compassion and mercy to those in need.

The Baptist churches in my city are less than half filled on Sunday, several are closing soon. The Catholic Churches are filled to overflowing at every mass and even the church we built last year is filled each Sunday. Meanwhile, Baptist church membership continues to decline in the U.S. Wonder why?

Oh, and I wouldn't worry about the survival of 'Catholic Answers", many Catholics like myself will step up and make sure they receive the funds needed to keep them afloat. Them and 'phatmass'..... BTW, I'd love to see some of you join the Phatmas forum and debate us 'poor deluded Catholics'. We don't prohibit Baptists from joining our forums. We encourage them!

Sure your are...... "If someone takes your coat, give him your cloak as well; if he makes you go a mile with him, go with him two. [Mathew]"

But you also have to exercise discernment.

Yeah, your right. What a stupid Catholic I am! Jesus never said anything about feeding the hungry or taking care of the poor. None of the Apostles cared about widows and orphans. The Catholic Church is the largest charitable organization in the world and will continue to be.

Repent of greed and selfishness, and practice the virtue of generosity.

Again, don't worry about Catholics 'stepping up'. Wait and see if Catholic Answers continues it's 'crummy forum' or not.

Having owned and run one I can say it costs little to nothing to run a forum. Not sure why this is a problem. In fact I question the real need.

I believe he is talking about the radio program. That station I am affillated with runs the program. However locally it is paid for a local couple who request donations during the program.

Our station, as most other Christian staions charge programers for the air time their program runs.

We charge in the neighborhood of $50-80 per day for a one hour program. So for a weekday program, that would be at least 250/week

LOL, if they would change the Pope's costume to green with yellow polka dots instead of white the laundry bill alone would save enough money for the forum.

2 Timothy 4:3-4 For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.

That has nothing to do with your premise. In essence, you are saying the validity of a New Testament Church is directly proportional to the number of people filling a sanctuary. That really makes a lot of sense. IMO, it is a sign of being more worldly, in addition to your flawed outlook on the Gospel. Lets see, pro football games, rock concerts, NASCAR races, the NCAA tournament, restaurants on Friday and Saturday night, wrestling matches, strip clubs, R and X rated movies are also packed to the last seat. That is quite a standard you have there.

The reason your sanctuaries are overflowing is because the Catholic Church, as it has for centuries, caters to the worldly mindset. Instead of dealing with God directly through the Lord Jesus Christ to live a life closer to God by faith, you stuff members in a phone booth and let the priest forgive sins. You perform magic tricks for the Lord's Supper, and require Christians to be baptized for acquire salvation. You create an afterlife place of purgatory and limbo to give those who have not surrendered their lives to Jesus Christ a second chance after death. I could go on and on, but you use bits and pieces of Scripture to cover up your easy believeism.

How dare you and your hoard of smoke and mirrors bishops, cardinals, priests, and whatever else claim to be the only true church, when your whole organization is nothing but a works salvation entity. It has done nothing since its inception but oppose the true local New Testament Church.

You imply that the Catholic Church is not a New Testament church. However, the New Testament was written by Catholics, compiled by Catholics, preached and taught by Catholics and preserved by Catholics for more than 1,000 years. All under the leadership of the Holy Spirit. It sure looks like a New Testament church to me, despite the efforts of various Johnny come lately pseudo churches (meaning Protestants, Evangelicals and Fundamentalists) to paint it as apostate.
