    Lets take the last first. To be filled with the Spirit means to be controlled by the Spirit. Instead of your flesh being in control or some other outside force such as alcohol which is used as an example in EPH. 5 the Spirit is in control.

    Now as how you will know is you will exibit the following;
    Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

    Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

    Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

    Keep in mind that you do not do those things to be filled, but because you are filled.

    Finally let me say that being filled with the Spirit is a command that we are to surrender to. We do not pray for the filling or seek after it through deeds. We simply surrender to Him allowing Him to be that which rules our moment by moment life.

    BUZZZZZZ! Wrong.
    If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? - Luke 11:13
    The question was: How will I know if im filled with the Holy Spirit or what is ti mean to be filled with spirit?

    When folks ask questions of this sort, I think the best response is to direct them to ask the Father directly, in the name of Christ, to give them the Holy Spirit and everything that it means in truth, confessing that we are weak, corrupt and ignorant and apt to be blown about by every wind of doctrine. And I would caution them not to focus on themselves to look for evidence, but to look unto Christ.

    So, ask the Father, and keep asking no matter any feeling of unworthiness or corruption or sin—you cannot cleanse yourself. Christ said you are evil, and yet the promise is that the Holy Spirit is given to them that ask.

    Again, ask and keep asking until the Holy Spirit Himself bears witness with your Spirit that He is in you.

    Aaron that does not say you will be filled. Also there is no ask again or keep asking. Ask one time and He is given. Whewn the Lord spoke that the Spirit had not yet been given. On the day of pentacost that was fullfilled in the upper room. He has now been given. The filling in EPH. 5 is an ongoing process that never ends. The Greek in Eph would read continually be ye being filled. Also in the Greek that is a command and there is no asking about it. It is our responsibility not His. The Luke passage is about the initial giving that was to come and it did.

    Semantics

    Maybe, but the question was "How will I know?" You have much to learn about the human heart and its condition.

    A dubious interpretation at best, but our arguing it will not help one to know that he is filled.

    Eph 5 gives the evidence. Just believe what is written.

    I wouldn't rely on the Gospels or Acts for this doctrine.
    The Body/Bride of Christ is sealed with the Holy Spirit,
    so He doesn't leave... BUT, He can be grieved and you become "carnal".
    Either the SELF/EGO will be "in charge", or the Holy Spirit will be.

    ALL christians have been sealed and indwelt by the Holy Spirit, and that happens to us at the new birth..

    Being filled by the Spirit though is what happens to us whenever we yield and submit ourselves to being controlled and led by the Spirit now residing within us!

    The evidence of us being Sprit controlled will be peace, joy, power to live for jesus, effective testimony and witness, keeping the principles of the bible etc!
