Going to DT Denver today afterward I was just grieved by the open sin, and unbelief and by the lack of response from the ungodly towards the light. I am thinking that what this country is experiencing is the curse of unbelief and fulfillment of Romans 1. Satan has blinded the minds of unbelievers so that they cannot see the light of the gospel. I preached that the elect will respond, but the rest will reject the message. I do not preach grace before I preach law and repentance of sin.

Not sure of the preacher but was it John MacArthur whom also taught on this subject? God uses preachers to preach the gospel to the elect, and judgment to others? So its no surprise that people will reject the message, and so the hecklers and those that opposed my message are expected. God seems to have given this country over to their sin and so people like Joel Osteen, Jon Acuff and many others are whom have been raised to preach to this nation. I said that people would be 10,000 more likely to listen to Osteen over me as he preaches self-fulfillment.

If you want folks to listen to you, watch this guy.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ngjIJfnv3pc

He doesn't yell at people, he engages with them and talks with them. He attracts large crowds and people listen to him. Give it a try.

Each one has their own style, but quite frankly I am not following such a method as its not engaging the conscience but the intellect. Such a method undermines the sufficiency of the scripture and the power of the HS. It also disobeys the Bible.

Galations 3:24 "Therefore the law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith

The Bible is quite clear on the power and use of the Law in evangelism. We are to go after the conscience and use the LAW to do so. I have had many one on one chats with people in my evangelism and used the law to bring conviction. Most were offended as what the Law can do and what it should do to the conscience.

Watch the video, he talks a great deal about the law and sin. The difference is, people listen to him.

NO he does not. He uses an arminian evangelism method and its obvious. And besides does it matter? The open air preacher is to preach regardless if no one listens to him because he is preaching out of obedience. Watch the film Go Stand and Preach and it makes that quite clear. God will bring out his true converts.

Watching more of him. While what he says is true, he is not preaching against sin, but he is engaging the intellect and not the conscience. I do not prefer this style but I realize that God does use these type to bring people to salvation. However its not my style, nor is it the Bible way of doing things.

    What? Does it matter? According to you it does, this is what you said;

You said you were grieved by the open sin and "the lack of response from the ungodly toward the light".

So obviously it does matter to you, and I tried to give you a helpful suggestion on how to get people to listen to you. Sure, you can yell at people, and perhaps a few will listen, but I don't see Jesus doing this in the scriptures. Jesus was more like this pastor in the video I showed you, he engaged people, he asked them questions and responded to their questions. And just like with Jesus, many people try to ask this pastor tricky questions to make him look bad and embarrass him. But you know what? Look at all the people who are listening intently. He is getting folks attention, he is making people think. And if you watch, he repeatedly tells people Jesus died for their SINS. He does not avoid talking about the law and sin, and he absolutely tells people of their need of Christ to be saved.

But you have to know your stuff to do this type of street preaching. It is a lot more difficult than just yelling at folks.

Now, I tried to help you, you were grieved at getting no response, and I gave you a helpful suggestion if you will receive it.

    Read this quote

I did draw some to listen to me but I have never been good at drawing a large crowd and rarely do I try as thats not my style. The way I was taught was just to go out and preach the word of God. But each is different.

Well, you are changing your story now, now you say you do not try to draw a large crowd. But before you said you were grieved at the lack of response you received.

Most people simply do not listen to some guy yelling in the street. Oh, they may listen for a moment, and once in awhile you might get someone who stops and listens for a long time, but most folks will just walk by.

Now, show me in scripture Jesus yelling at folks like this. More often you will see Jesus talking to crowds of people as this pastor was doing. You often see the crowd asking him questions, and you see him asking the crowd questions. It is far more like this video than what you have been taught.

I think it is great you get out and preach, I really do, I am just suggesting there might be a better way of doing it where you attract crowds and people will listen to you.

I have to finish this video, but so far I like this guy. Some people don't realize that there are actually "good" reasons (or obstacles/objections to the faith based on human reasoning). This preacher takes the time to deal with people without talking down to them or simply dismissing their valid questions.

What part of the way this preacher addressed the crowd is unbiblical? (I'm not saying you're right or wrong - just trying to understand this comment - I may have missed something)

He is a local preacher here in Ct., he used to have a show on Sunday but I haven't seen it for awhile. That doesn't mean much, I almost never watch TV anymore. But he is good and people listen to him.

It is not always easy for him, there are folks that are purposely out to get him like this video here.

He does a good job holding his ground in this video. I like him also.

Because he is aiming at the intellect and not the conscience which is the Arminian way of evangelism. He needs to first USE THE SCHOOLMASTER and convict of sin and then preach the gospel. He does not do this. Not saying God does not use these type as lee Strobel and Josh McDowell are two examples, but its not the best way.

But did Jesus condemn the methods of Jeremiah, Jonah, Ezra, Nehemiah, Noah, and others?

    http://carm.org/biblical-examples-street-preaching

Likewise the prophets of old were hated by the people, because they heralded the word of God at the city gates (Isaiah 5:29; Amos 5:10).

Some of these fellows preached like you preach, Jonah definitely stood in the streets and proclaimed that in 40 days Nineveh would be overthrown.

But many of these examples were not prophets yelling at people. Ezra was not standing in the streets and yelling at people passing by. These were Jews that had returned willingly from Babylon to rebuild Jerusalem. When they found the law they read it to the people.

I am simply suggesting to you that there are ways to get folks to listen to you. One of the best ways is to listen to them. Jesus asked people questions, and he allowed them to ask him questions. People like it when you listen to them, and will be far more willing to listen to you if you first listen to them.

Now, you can do what you want, but you should consider this method.

Listen to this video, here he speaks much about the law and sin.

I do agree that evangelists should preach repentance and belief.

I’m not exactly why you’d refer to ‘aiming at the intellect and not the conscience’ as the “Arminian way” of evangelism as it seems that many “Arminian” and non-Calvinistic evangelists focus more on conscience (and emotion) than intellect. Of course, I’m biased because my favorite sermons are by Spurgeon (who considered himself a Calvinist – although many disagree) and he seemed convinced that the normal mode that God utilized towards salvation was through reason and persuasion.

It must be hard preaching in the street and I am sure you meet many difficult people. I will be praying for you as you share the gospel.

I did not know you lived during the Bible days WinMan? Where did you find the time machine? You talk as if you know everything which you do not. Besides I do not yell at people, I preach the word of God. I know you interpret preaching as yelling, but its not, its called preaching, which you call yelling.

Listen to this audio where the intellect is not engaged but the conscience.

Actually Spuregon believed in preaching to the conscience and letting the HS bring out the converts. Thanks for your prayers.

Its very hard. Yesterday I had a group of teen's - early's 20 kids stop and some of them were pretending to mock me by worshipping me. Yes they literally were kneeling at my feet while another was shooing a YouTube video. Its sad the level of sin seen in the people.

I am sure if I preached in college campuses I may be able to draw a crowd as the videos WinMan posted indicate but I preach in the streets primarily. WinMan posted videos of a man whom can draw crowds, but they are not in the streets but other areas.
