    Hi everyone!

My name is Penny. I'm 13 years old and a brand new Christian and this seems like it might be safe place to learn more about God.

My parents are not Christians and don't really like the idea of me going to church. Especially a Baptist church, since they have this picture of Baptists as "rabid holier-than-thous," lol. I am trying to get through to them that a sinner going to church is like an alcoholic going to AA. We go because we're NOT holier than anyone, but sinners set free and learning how to be free.

I'm an 8th grader so I may not get all the big fancy words and theology, but I am anxious to explore so I can help my parents understand what has happened, and maybe get them to see the truth and get saved too.

    Thank you,
    Penny

    Penny,

    Welcome to BB.

I was thrilled to read of your desire to reach out to your parents. I wish that there were more teens as burdened for their parents as you seem to be.

Some advice about reaching your parents for Jesus Christ at your stage of life. Do your very best (with the Holy Spirit's help) to honor and obey your parents as much as you can. This is not to say that you should never verbally witness to your parents, but in the long run, a godly life filled with "a meek and quiet spirit" (1 Peter 3:4) may be more effective for you in helping to reach your parents for the Lord.

Thankfully, BB has many very godly women who can help you in living a life that'll be pleasing to God.

May God richly bless you Penny.

Hi Penny! You are my son's age (well, he'll be 13 next month but he's in 8th grade too)! I can highly recommend a book for you and I'd be happy to send it to you if you'd like. It's called and it is a great Bible study for new believers to learn about their faith and the Scriptures. Let me know if you are interested.

Welcome to the family and welcome to BB. I pray that we can help you on your new walk with Christ.

I think my church has that book in it's library! I'll look for it next time I'm there. Let your son know he has a new little sister in Christ!

And thank you for the warm welcome!

That's great that you are in a church. It is important to be in a fellowship of believers to learn and grow. :) Definitely see if you can get the book!

Welcome Penny! I love your screen name. I thank God for your salvation. I was saved when I was thirteen as well. Living a life that is pleasing to the Lord is the best way to reach your parents. You are the biggest Christian they know, and surely they will see the changes in you.

You'll be glad you found our forum. It is a great resource to grow in the Lord and learn more about His Word. People can get snarky around here sometimes, don't let it bother you. It's kind of like family spats.
