Serpent Salvation...

    So Tv is stooping to a new low just when I thought it couldn't get any worse than Discovery Channels " Amish Mafia". Now National Geographic channel is coming out Tuesday with a new reality show called " serpent salvation" about the Mountain snake handler churches.

    I have always felt that shows like Amish Mafia were just produced to poke fun and degrade the Amish because of their strong belief in God. Now we have another attack on religion by showing the world that southern people who live in the Mountian areas are all crazy snake handlers. TV does not bother to show churches who bear good fruit.

    I agree that the snake churches are lost and definitely putting God to the test. However, I have to admire the faith they have. They really believe that God will not allow a snake to bite them because their faith in him is so strong. That is somewhat admirable. But....I know not to test God so I won't be handling any snakes any time soon.

    When I was in WV, mananging WAMN-AM, we played that record (yes, still records in those days) and a lady called me up complaing about it, as here church was a snake handling one.
    I offered her church time to come to the studio and we would have a serious discussion about. Offer never accepted.
