Tea Partiers held a rally in DC recently to protest Obamacare and vow to repeal it. Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, Michelle Bachmann, Tim Huelskamp were some of the speakers. With all these luminaries present you'd expect a huge turnout, right? They had about 300 people in attendance. Has the Tea Party lost their clout?

Was the House changed back to Republican majority for a reason?

Are you glad for the small attendence?

Also, could be those who wanted to come, have a job to go to. ( you know that thing that conservatives have to do to pay for the laziness of liberals)

That rally wasn't well publicized, true, which could account for the small turnout. Regardless, the Republicans have some strange bedfellows in this fight:

    http://www.foxnews.com/politics/201...ressure-on-white-house-for-obamacare-changes/

The AFL-CIO approved a resolution saying that President Obama's health care overhaul will drive up the costs of union-sponsored health plans to the point that workers and employers are forced to abandon them.

In a strongly worded resolution released Wednesday, the federation said that labor unions still support the Affordable Care Act's overall goals of reducing health costs and bringing coverage to all Americans, but added that the law is being implemented in a way that is "highly disruptive" to union health care plans.

Some individual unions have complained about the law's impact for months, but the resolution marks the first time the nation's largest labor federation has gone on record embracing that view. Unions were among the most enthusiastic backers of the law when it passed in 2010.
Now they've awakened and smelled the coffee, and it isn't to their liking. I love the article's notation that the administration has been making contacts with several union officials over the last several days literally begging them not to go on record with their concerns. Oops.

Now, if the Republicans are smart, they will shamelessly pander to the unions, telling them that if they help give the party a veto-proof majority 14 months from now, the Great Pretender's stupid health care plan will get flushed.

The election results for the Tea Party (and Republicans) in 2010 was a visceral reaction to Obama and ObamaCare. The election results in 2012 were quite different, especially in the Senate. I think 2014 is not going to be a good year for them.

Steve King's Anti-Amnesty rally a month ago drew only about 30 people. Illegal immigrants and ObamaCare are probably the two most hot-button issues for the Tea Party.

Has the Tea Party lost its clout?

As a conservative, I'm kind of disappointed. On the other hand Tea Party candidates have proven to be bad candidates for the conservative cause. I'm kind of shocked that this voting bloc which was so energized a few years ago is practically dead.

Rally was supported by Sean Hannity and Mark Levin and mentioned on their radio shows.

    An update from Fox News:

    http://www.foxnews.com/politics/201...tive-strike-on-union-subsidies-for-obamacare/

[R]eports have surfaced on a plan that would give union workers -- and only union workers [Emphasis added] -- subsidies to help pay for health insurance even if they're covered through their job. The purported "carve-out" could soothe the simmering discontent within Big Labor. The loyal Democratic supporters and early champions of ObamaCare say they have been slighted by the act’s final regulations, which they say is pushing some employees into part-time work and threatens their health insurance plans.

At least three congressional Republicans are trying to stop any effort to give the unions special treatment, which could cost $200 billion over 10 years.

Used to be patronage and political paybacks were kept under the table, out of sight. Apparently the Great Pretender has no qualms about overtly bribing the unions into silence.
