In the vein of "buying a dog" from a previous thread, here's a modification of something I heard on the radio from a man named Joe Griffith:

A man who was dearly attached to his dog was overly heart-broken when the dog died. He went to a Catholic priest and asked if the priest would do a funeral service for the dog; the priest, although sympathetic, said "No" and suggested he talk to the Baptist pastor.

The man visited the Baptist pastor, and asked if he would perform the funeral service for the dog; the Baptist pastor comforted him, but said, "No; maybe you should try the Methodist minister down the street." As the man turned to leave, he asked the Baptist pastor: "Do you think the Methodist minister would be okay with $1,000 for the service, or should it be $2,000?"

The Baptist pastor jumped up and grabbed the man's arm, tears springing from his eyes as he said, "Why didn't you tell me the dog was Baptist?"
