    Yep, they do.

How many week campaign? what are you trying to accomplish? What have you done before?

We have done 'friend day'. Made some special kind of days. But haven't done a long kind of campaign.

In a former church we did a 4 week campaign with a football theme. Heard of 9 week campaigns with a baseball theme. Not sure what you are looking for.

Why do you want to have a Fall SS campaign?

I sorta nominated myself for this year's SS Director. I told the pastor I would be willing to help out. Story is, no one showed interest, pastor repeated what I said and wha-lah. I've never held this position. All I know about the role from last year's director is he brought donuts and juice. Surely there's more to it than that. Doing some research. Looking at GBC website to see if they offer any SS workshops.

Looking at a 6 weeks campaign and have a high attendance 2nd Sunday in November. Trying to build up Sunday School. It has dwindled over the last 18+ months. New members would be great, but getting current members back in SS is something we are striving for. They come to morning worship, just not SS. I believe some of this is attributed to teacher placement.

Our new church year started this month. New SS teachers and classes. Pastor wants to start off new year focusing on the family and wants to do that through SS.

We are having a family fall festival Oct 26. Looking to see how I can work that in to our campaign. Going to have SS teachers give testimonies each Sunday leading up to Nov 10.

    Thanks for the responses.

There is a lot more than donuts and juice, there's coffee! :saint:

You have a big job. You may want to have - if you don't already - a regular teacher's mtg. It would get people on the same page. Treat them like the important teachers of God's Word they are.

Maybe also think about having a regular at SS rather than the teacher talk about SS. People will expect a teacher to want folks to come. An attender might carry more weight.

What exactly is the purpose of a campaign?

    Numbers?

    Learning?

    Developing community?

    Getting involved in a group?

    Developing groups/classes centered around something....what?

To me it appears that the overwhelming majority don't want to spend anymore time at church than their obligatory 60-90 minutes on Sunday mornings. Even people who have been going for years. We tried a big small groups campaign and got just a few nibbles.

You (we) don't believe in it as 'the best' teaching method? Or because it is called 'SS'?

Do you believe in Bible teaching?

Im a hard shell -- These are our beliefs for your edification.

Bible study is greatly to be commended, and there are definite benefits to studying and discussing scriptures with other Christians; however, scriptural example dictates that such activitiesshould be conducted in contexts other than formal church worship. There is nothing in scriptures to indicate that worshippers, either in the church or in the law, were ever segregated by knowledge, age, sex, marital status, or any other criterion. Instead, all worshipped in a common assembly.

The importance of adherence to scriptural example on this and other matters is considered in the question treating scriptural precedent.

Some will say that Sunday schools are necessary for the instruction of children; however, the Lord cautions against assuming a posture which views the understanding of children with slight or disdain. He tells us that their understanding can exceed that of the wise and prudent (Mt 11:25, Mt 21:15), and that God has ordained praise in the utterances of babes (Mt 21:16). Accordingly, Jesus rebuked His disciples for denying admittance of children to His presence (Mt 19:13-15, Mk 9:36-37, Mk 10:13-15). Hence, it should not be assumed that children are incapable of receiving proper instruction from the general assembly. The modern practice of denying children entrance to church sanctuaries is very much against the spirit of the scriptures.

    You're a hard 'shall'?

    Which congregation?

Nothing in SS does away with the above. To believe it does is nonsense and a self inducing martyr spirit and prideful absurdities.

The final assumption of your quote is a straw man argument. No one has denied children 'access to a sanctuary' and nothing in Scripture says one thing about denying entrance to a 'sanctuary'. There is no such 'modern practice' except in the minds of those looking for reasons to point the finger at others, such as pharisees condemning others and claiming themselves righteous. The conclusions of your quoted materials are unfounded and prideful nonsense.

Do you believe in Bible teaching? Yes or no?

One wouldn't have to guess the glaringly apparent.
