...With the Treasury Department announcing that the U.S. will reach its borrowing capacity by Oct. 17, a debate over raising the debt ceiling will likely consume the attention of Capitol Hill next month, with Republicans pushing for certain budgetary concessions in return for raising America’s borrowing limit. President Obama calls such demands unprecedented.

“You have never seen in the history of the United States the debt ceiling or the threat of not raising the debt being used to extort a president or a governing party and trying to force issues that have nothing to do with the budget and nothing to do with the debt,” Obama said before the Business Roundtable.

In fact, the Democrats of the 1980s repeatedly used the debt ceiling issue to force President Reagan not to increase defense spending. And Obama himself used the issue of the debt ceiling in his battle against President George W. Bush’s tax cuts....

...“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. government can’t pay its own bills,” Obama said [pdf] in March 2006. “It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our government’s reckless fiscal policies. Over the past five years, our federal debt has increased by $3.5 trillion to $8.6 trillion. That is ‘trillion’ with a ‘T.’ That is money that we have borrowed from the Social Security trust fund, borrowed from China and Japan, borrowed from American taxpayers.”

RevMitchell, one of the greatest hopes that I have for the future of this country is the utterly transparent hypocrisy of the Democrats on all things, great and small.

First off, of course, as Rev points out, this is a bold faced lie. Secondly, since when does only one party govern? Does he seriously think he and his hooligan band of socialists can dictate to the country how the cow is gonna eat the cabbage? The arrogance of this statement alone indicates this fool hasn't a clue to what he has been elected, nor how he is to carry out the demands of his office. Perhaps I've missed it before -- not the arrogance, but the clear spelling out of how he thinks government works -- but this is the most telling statement I've ever seen the idiot make.

Surely he has got to be joking!! Adding another 1.7 trillion dollars to the debt with this laughably named "Affordable Care Act" has nothing to do with the debt? If he truly believes this -- and I can't imagine under what delusion anyone could believe that statement -- he reveals himself to be completely ignorant of government funding, operations, and processes.

I am beginning to believe he isn't deliberately destructive in his approach to running the U.S., and may actually be the most highly educated moron in the history of American politics -- and the education in itself is questionable. He doesn't have a selective memory, he truly doesn't equate his past actions with current events. He deludes himself into believing that his actions are original, forthright, and good, when in fact they are same-as-usual, underhanded, dirty-dealing bad politics, but on such an unprecedented anti-U.S., anti-free enterprise level that they may well render the U.S. ineffective, second-rate, and a dependent state.

A perfect description of one of my favorite quips -
"He has been educated beyond his intelligence."
