Iconoclast and Preacher4Truth have it correct. There is no need to debate that which has already been debated EXCELLENTLY by these two bothers, as well as Herald, Yeshua1, Biblicist and Rippon, to name a few who engage in this MOST IMPORTANT doctrinal debate. It is time to expose the INANE NON-BIBLICAL nature of our opponents arguments. What better way to expose error than to use DIRECT QUOTES. Let the reader decide for oneself.

This debate centers around essential Christian truths, the foremost of which is: Which God do you worship?

"And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent."

'Pastor' Bob got it right. It is a life and death issue.

Thank you for the clarification! I think we would all be better served if anyone posting would attempt to be word based, without inventing theological novelties.
Some seek to circumvent the scripture itself in offering these alternative solutions.:applause::thumbs:

I agree that Iconoclast and Preacher4truth are "bothers" as well as the others you mentioned. I like that you call a spade a spade.

Being that this family is joined by being adopted of God it is still open.God has saved us and the only thing we had in common was a great amount of sin.
God used different paths, and i am encouraged that there are many who fought against truth and God overcame their rebellion.
I fought against God, and all things christian...and was the last person who would have believed these things...But God who is rich in mercy Had another plan that was going on unknown to me.
P4T used to fight against these truths,as well as Luke24 and Herald and many others. Herald was born in NJ. That alone was working against him!
You should be glad that God has worked in us and not left us in our sins which were many. Do you ever post on a topic that is joyful? maybe you do...but because of your 24/7 attack on grace..[you said you have a different gospel]...maybe we have not noticed...

Winman...what are 5 things that you fear these truths...are ...harmful to people...What do you think happens in our churches???

In New Haven is a small RB church...pastor Sam Owen..take a road trip..see what is going on....

The scriptures prevail by the Spirit of God.

Winman.....these men are brothers in the truth. We all have different backrounds...what would bind us together...we see these truths quite plainly and it is a constantly growing thing....each of us is a bit rough around the edges as people . God works in us nevertheless. We know where God has saved us from....we have sin the worldly side of things....but now God has granted repentance and faith that we use daily. That is why we are brothers.
I can take a shot at these men from time to time, and they know I mean them no harm...but want to press them a bit. I try and be open to this as well. This kind of interaction is not like what team anti-cal jihad does.
I will say that you do sometimes make an attempt...Skan also ...to reason and try and convince us....even the good inspector will do so...WD does not seem to have the patience to extend his posts.... Van..is a bit of a loose cannon...you never know what he is going to say...however he is trying a bit more lately...but he repeats the same 4-5 errors over and over.

Take another look at things..listen to some of those sermons..tell me which ones you listen to and i will download and listen...I enjoy pastor Thomas as he is Christ centered.

Go on sermonaudio....listen to Geoff Thomas. He is a godly man with great compassion for souls....very easy going and yet firm in the truth of God..listen to a dozen of his sermons and let me know what you think.

I have nothing against any of you guys, and I hope you know I was joking. That was just too easy, when someone gives you that wide open 3 pointer shot, you just gotta take it.

But I don't need to listen to SermonAudio to know for a FACT that Calvinism is false doctrine. I am not some new, novice Christian you can bamboozle, I have been saved for 50 years now. I am no scholar, but I have read the scriptures a few times and I know they do NOT teach what you fellas are teaching.

I have been showing TONS of scripture that easily refutes Calvinism for several years now. What amazes me is that you can still believe this nonsense. Of course, one of your big problems is that you only listen to Reformed preachers, and so you sincerely believe you have the truth. It is the blind leading the blind.

I seriously doubt winman was joking given his past to tell Calvinists that:

    1) Preach another gospel;

    2) Calvinists don't believe the Bible.

However, thank you Protestant and Iconoclast for your Biblical and self-controlled responses. Much appreciated and this follows the NT pattern of how to address error.

    Calvinism DOES preach another gospel.

Calvinism constantly REDEFINES scripture, they do not believe what scripture REALLY says, but they do believe how Reformed theology has redefined scripture. This is mainly due to folks trusting "scholarship". Calvinists believe that a long succession of famous Reformed authors cannot possibly be mistaken, but they are. Again, it is the blind leading the blind.

When a scholar has to write a mini-novel to attempt to convince you that a word does not mean what it obviously says, flags should immediately go up.

    Anthony,

I understand the humor in that comment, but trust me, I have had a lot more working against me than being raised right off exit 15W. I am a wretch. There is nothing good within me, save what Christ has imparted through the Holy Spirit. I am reminded each and every day how unsanctified my life is by practice. Mercy is mine each day, because there is no way I could get through one day without it.

Arminians on this board wonder how I, a Calvinist, can know that I am elect. It really is not that hard. I can testify to the work of the Spirit in my life who constantly convicts me of sin and drives me to repentance. Even though I struggle daily there is a new set of affections within me. It is the repentance that leads to life (Acts 11:18; 2 Cor. 7:10) that has brought this about.

There is a side of me that cares deeply about the opinions of others. No one wants to be disliked. But there is another side that is compelled to contend for the truth regardless of the consequences. Truth matters. Actually the truth, expressed with love, matters. Unfortunately "love" often hurts. It is like fingers down a chalk board or rubbing a cat the wrong way.

Some people think that the Calvinism vs. Armianism debate is only about soteriology. Nothing could be further from the truth. The sovereignty of God, and His providential choices, permeates every facet of theology. One doctrine is connected to another. Some people may want to stick their head in the sand and hope it will go away. It will not. Truth never takes a holiday.

I know that we all have these traits in common. We were great sinners and outside of the Kingdom of God.We have a great Saviour who has a plan and purpose in saving sinners.
This overwhelming fact of scripture has always been a comfort to the saints and will continue to be.

I don't mind that I 'bother' you. Jesus had a propensity to 'bother.' In fact, He tells us that if we preach correct doctrine we will 'bother' folks like He did. (John 15:18-21)

Where is the hatred of the world against Arminianism? It doesn't exist.

God loves you. Jump through this hoop and you're in! It makes perfect sense to the unregenerate.

What truly troubles me is the fact that after 50 years and 11,000 posts eternal truth still 'bothers' you.

    What is obvious is that my arguments "bother" you. You have started 9 threads all dedicated to me. I believe what has happened is that you have been "cut to the heart" as those men whom Stephen preached to in Acts chapter 7;

Acts 7:54 When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth.
55 But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,
56 And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.
57 Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord,
58 And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man's feet, whose name was Saul.
59 And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.

Now, I am in no way claiming to be a Christian of Stephen's caliber, but I believe my arguments have convicted you, and now you are "gnashing your teeth" and "stopping your ears". You do not want to hear that your doctrine is false, but deep down you sense it is true. I inflame your conscience with scriptural arguments you cannot refute, just as Stephen did. I dare say you would drag me out of the city and stone me if that was within your power. You can't possibly do that, so you start multiple threads in a vain attempt to discredit and mock me.

My hope is that you will be like one person that was in that hateful crowd that stoned Stephen, his name was Saul, and he was a Pharisee. He, like you believed he had the only truth, and he persecuted these heretic "Christians". He felt a supreme duty to wipe these false believers out.

Hopefully, you will have your Damascus road moment as Saul did. I think you will.
