Just saw this. I have all his books, both fiction and non-fiction.

    Sad.

Just finished reading "Without Remorse" Monday night. I read somewhere that there is a new book due out this fall. Wonder if the publisher will push up the release date?

    Clancy's last novel was prophetic

I'm finally getting around to reading Tom Clancy's last book, Command Authority, published posthumously in December of last year.

    Clancy did it again!
His book, Debt of Honor (1994) ended with a large passenger jet flying into the Washington's Capitol - seven years later we saw a similar attack on the World Trade Center and Pentagon (as well as a failed attack on another Washington landmark, brought down after a passenger-lead counter attack here in Pennsylvania).

In Command Authority (2013), Clancy wrote about a new Russian strong man taking over Crimea and the Ukraine. He discusses the weakness of the Ukraine and the promises made by the U.S. and Europe. ...sound familiar?

Wish our President had been briefed by someone with as much foresight as Clancy! or perhaps he was and just didn't care.

Interesting.., I have read everything from Crichton, and was saddened by his death, but I haven't read anything from Clancy. What would you recommend as a "must read" introductory to his works?

The Hunt for Red October. The first (and I think only) fiction published by the Naval Institute Press.

Thanks...I'll pick up a copy of the book. I've ran out of good fiction (got tired of going through bad fiction) so perhaps this will occupy my time for awhile.

You are correct. The Naval Institute Press has published some really great non-fiction and also publishes a fine magazine, the "Proceedings".

There is a call for papers for their 2014 essay contest. If you are interested go to:

This year I got into the Vince Flynn books. He and Tom Clancy are two pees in a pod.

Ironically, being a gamer, I have more experience with the Tom Clancy games than novels.

Tom Clancy has dozens of video games out based on his books and characters. There's the Splinter Cell series, up to 5 or 6 games now. Rainbow 6 games, about 4 of them. End War, an amazing Real Time Strategy game. And others.

I am a video gamer as well as a tabletop war gamer.
