This is great. Now I can go to the other sections of this site and hopefully the ENDLESS debate will be contained/quarantined to this area.

I now feel safe to ask a question about something simple like "why did the tombs back then have stones over the openings?" and NOt have a flaming C vs A debate in the response to my question!

Squire R: you are awesome. Best of luck to you in your attempts to contain the endless debate in this section.

Question: will threads that start out as normal threads but then degenerate into C vs A flamewars be moved into this forum? For instance, if someone were to ask in the Bible Study Forum "hey everyone, can anybody suggest a good set of highlighters for my Bible" and the third answer begins a C vs A debate...will you be moving that thread into this forum?

Well I guess that depends on what God has predetermined will happen to that particular thread... OR DOES IT?

    Good point.

Srsly, I'm a very snarky person. But I am interested to know if this place will be the "quarantine" for all threads that degenerate into C vs A flamewars?

So you created a whole thread about this vs addressing this
in a private message? Are you attempting to call more attention to these issues or are you self promoting your own opinion's?

Apparently I did! Let me scroll up and look at my original post...... wait a sec..... yeah. It turns out I in fact DID make a whole thread.

I am calling attention to the issues, EW&F. If this is going to be the "C vs A" quarantine, then such a thing should be known publicly.

Other types of bulletin boards sites have such a forum. For instance, a martial arts website will have a quarantine for "my style is better than your style". An Indiana Jones forum will have a quarantine for all threads that degenerate into "I hated Indiana Jones IV". It makes the website cleaner and allows the dead horse beating to take place in its own nice neat little area.

A well-reasoned, poignant response and it didn't even require words.
Pretty efficient if you ask me.

    Way too wordy, P4T.

There are too many letters forming into words preceding the smiley face emoticons. Very distracting, sir.

I've noticed that a thread or two in this section that has been closed just disappeared, also there was a thread started and got one smart reply and then vanished. Some of the previous threads that got declared cal/arm in the other forums were moved here and then vanished. How can a person study these threads if they just vanish ?

And Squire has been very fair in moderating all this since the forum was brought back up.

    Click on Calvinism/Arminianism Debate

Scroll to the bottom of the page and see Display Options

Select "Beginning" in the "From The" box on the far right and then click "Show Threads" below that. That should show all previous threads.

    Jk,

I do not agree with it, but it really is not that much of an inconvenience. I do not search the forums anyway. I hit "new posts" when I come in and see what is trending and being discussed. It shows all the threads that are getting responses. I figure if the thread is not on the new posts page than it has pretty much died out.

If you click on User CP in the tool bar at the top left of your page, then choose "Edit Options" and then scroll down to "Thread Display Option" and take it off of 'forum default' and select the one you want...then save changes at the bottom.

    This will make it permanent.
