Assuming Ted Cruz gets the GOP nomination in 2016--and Republicans have always nominated the front-runner--who should his running mate be?

Was he born in this country?

He shouldn't be permitted to run. He was born in another country, his father was born in Cuba, and he may very well be a dual citizen despite his attempt to renounce his Canadian citizenship.

Does that make the question moot?

    1. That's a pretty big assumption.

    2. He's not eligible...I can't imagine what the birthers would say.

    3. On the remote chance he does get the nomination...cuz it's fun to speculate about stuff that isn't gonna happen...I think the only suitable partner is Patrick Buchannan.

No one. He shouldn't get the nomination.

Trust me ...they already have a long list of possible candidates....Chris Christy, Wisconsin's Scott Walker etc.

And I still support Ben Carson. None of the GOPers I see at this stage are qualified, or have enough common sense. If we are truly disgusted with how Washington works, and believe the GOP leadership is as much to blame for the debacles we see almost weekly in the government, we should be looking outside that faulty leadership for a candidate.

If Carson runs as an Independent or a Democrat, I'll vote for him (though I don't see him even considering running in the latter party).

Well, if we're looking for balance ...

    Bozo the Clown.

He will at least provide comic relief.

No, I would not vote for Ted Cruz. He was not born in the United States. In addition, I think this nation has suffered enough of Presidents from Texas, that is, Lyndon Johnson, and the two Bushes. He would lose big time to any Democrat nominee.

At this point, I would vote for Ben Carson or Rand Paul. Christy would eat us out of house and home. Scott Walker has no national appeal.

Although he would be a terrible President, Ted Cruz is eligible to run. The mainstream view of who is a "natural-born citizen" is simply possessing citizenship at birth. Cruz meets that requirement.

The originator of that pithy remark has long since been lost to history. Covers ... pages. I've seen it both ways.

In reality, it doesn't actually make that much sense.
