A New Testament scholar has apparently found proof that Jesus was made up. If would like to see discussion from people who know a lot more than me about this.

Don't need to know anything about it. It's pure unadulterated horse-hockey.

very strange that the Jewish rulers, and the Romans knew of a man called Jesus, but that a no name 2000 yeraslater can disprove eyewitnesses to all the events that many times the non christian historians of that time can and do attest to as happening!

Might be time to prune your friends list...this sounds like a satanic inspired thought.

There has been an unending parade of tales, theories, proofs, etc, etc, .... to discredit Jesus Christ - God come in the flesh.

Just add this one to the list.

And OBTW even if "proven true" looks like it backfired on them since Christianity significantly contributed to the comeupance of the Roman Empire.

    how contemptible and pitiably pathetic.
kindest words I can think of to say to describe these scholars.
they don't realize they not only have to prove that Jesus never existed, they will also have to deal with a lot of prophecies, from the virgin birth of Jesus to the place of His birth to His escape to Egypt to the massacre of children by Herod and so on.
but they are as clueless as their boss and dad, Satan, who can quote Scripture but doesn't know the Scripture he quotes also describes him as a defeated foe.
    yep, contemptible and totally pathetic.

There's another thread on this: http://www.baptistboard.com/showthread.php?t=89266

I saw this the other day. This guys been lingering around conversations for a little bit.

However, he's a hack and has been completely disproven. There is no data on his background, but I'd be willing to bet he doesn't have a relevant degree to make these claims. His previous book Caesar's Messiah is the set up for this stuff and its been pretty well refuted...both theists and non-theists.

ALL they have to do is to produce his body...

been waiting 2000 years for that...

IF his critics could not produce that right at the time and event happening, no way modern day ones ever can!

    Yep.

The goats (and some lost rabid sheep) hope for all (or a portion thereof for the rabid sheep) their life and eternity there is no Judge named Jesus who will exercise wrath upon them, or as some put it like this, that there is no God as revealed in Scripture. In their terminology, they hope like 'hell' there is no God. They get excited for a while when they hear news like this.

And they're still searching for evidence to clear their consciences against and as per Romans 1.

Yeah, that's why I've largely ignored this whole thread. The article is so much dog-doo and isn't worth commenting on.

We can go back to the Roman-Jewish historian Flavious Josephus (AD 37-100?) and his Antiquities of the Jews, written near the end of the first century.

There are two references to Jesus and one to the imprisonment and death of John the Baptist.
    (
One reference is in Book 20, chapter 9,1, which reads "...the brother of Jesus, who is called Christ, whose name was James."

Book 18,18 refers to the execution of Jesus by Pontius Pilate.

Josephus was born in Jerusalem, son of a priest and descendant of high priests. Look up his interesting biography.

Some scholars have challenged the authenticity of some of his writings, but there is broad concensus on the authenticity of other parts.

The debates are over the authenticity of what he wrote about Jesus, not about whether he existed.

And it is generally agreed by most scholars that Josephus was not a Christian believer.

didn't a Caesar send out a Roman historian to invertigate the customes of christians, as they were said to be cannibals and did obscene rites, due to "holy kisses/love for the bethren?'

That historian attended a meeting, and reported abck they took communion, and sang songs to Christ as a god, and worshipped jesus?

Pretty strong evidence that Jesus was real, eh?
