Again, no surprise here. The GOP seems unable to grasp reality of what motivates American voters and there are many on the BB who refuse to acknowledge anything other than what they themselves believe.

Even O'Reilly sees the train wreck the GOP is heading toward.

The GOP must change course and show they can do something other than be obstructive.

Oh the GOP is headed for the dustbin. The Tea Party will be the new second party. Obamacare is wildly popular--already 51,000 people have signed up.

Obama's polls are lower that Bush at this point. The Dems are dropping as well. Everyone is getting the blame and they should. And now the Dem party is as divided as anyone else over this deal.

There you go again, trying to derail the topic. This is not about Bush or Obama. It is about the public view of the Republican Party. Unless the GOP wakes up they are headed to oblivion. The American people deserve more than a party whose goal is only to obstruct.

Usually the party of the president loses seats in off year elections. Unless there is change the GOP may manage to not gain, but decline in Congressional seats in the 2014 election. I had not expected that ... until recently. They can still salvage themselves, but they must change to do so.

    From another study:

The only Republicans who will survive will be those who shine Obama's shoes, as McCain and Graham do. The GOP should be abolished if they don't have enough backbone to stand up to one of the crookest Presidents ever to be elected. Hagel and Obama have gotten away with not paying death benefits deliberately. Who cares if the spineless GOP fades away? Hagel is an example of why the GOP should go.

Hmm. Sounds like you're pretty proud of some party too.

We're to be in this world but not of it. And the tenor of the disrespectful comments about the President and others placed in authority by God shows that some of you need to completely stay out of politics cause it's nt beneicial to your witnesses.

Zaac, did God put Obama in as free world leader or did He just allow it? Now, Harry Reid probably thinks that God made him Senate Majority Leader and potential President of the LDS when the time comes. And I am sure that Nancy Pelosi thinks that abortion is from God in spite of what the Vatican says or else she would not be so rich and would not be the House Minority Leader.

Please stay on the topic. Your posts are completely off topic. The topic is the drop in the viability of the Republican Party in the eyes of the public because of their actions in shutting down the government. So, again, please stay on the topic.

God allowed them to be placed in the positions of authority that they are in if my statement was unclear. Oops just saw CBTs comment. Sorry CBT.

But I think the obstructionist views result out of the same type of disrespectful attitudes that we see on this board about the President and those God has allowed to be placed in authority.

And I've said it again and again that I wouldn't be surprised if God didn't keep allowing us to get the very things we say we don't want because there is so much out right wickedness coming out of those in the church that we keep trying to justify as right and holy.

    Jedi Knight= teller of lies

Now go present one instance where I've supported abortion. Otherwise you're just blowing smoke and making stuff up to add to your argument because that's what folks not grounded in truth do.

Romney was running for office. He wasn't placed in authority over anyone. Yall just wanted the man to be.

And there ain't nothing disrespectful about saying someone is 100% against Jesus Christ as the elder in the Church of Mormon is. Y'all just wanted to ignore that and still do.

And it is the result of your own continued unrepentant wickedness that you try to dress up as holy, that keeps getting you exactly what you say you don't want.

Apparently, as with Romney, some would rather cede their respect to one who leads those already born to hell. So that should tell all involved why the comments about abortion are meaningless.

Democrats think that they have used Obama and race to destroy the GOP. But the GOP has destroyed themselves by refusing to fight Obama's corruption. To this, the Democrats have said that Obama rules by the divine right of kings because Romney was a Mormon, but the Democrats have put up one of the meanest Mormons since Joe Smith in the Senate Majority leader, Harry Reid. Reid is very likely to be president of the LDS in Salt Lake City because they like power leaders. No doubt the Democrats are happy that Reid has destroyed the GOP and no doubt that the Democrats think that Reid rules by the divine right of kings.

We agree on the conclusion, just differ on why. If the Republicans continue to nominate liberal, wishy washy candidates, instead of conservative, they are headed for oblivion. Your theory is that they must become more like Democrats than they already are. Suggest you views the election returns of the 80 and 84 election, when the Republican carried Mass and California.

Well that was when (the 80's---your dating yourself SN) & this is now.....you aint gonna carry those pukedly liberal states today without lots of pain being dolled out by BO & Friends. From my prospective, had the stupid Republicans could have just won this by allowing it to die of its own ineptitude. All that had to happen is for the majority of people simply dont sign up for BO Care.....It will implode via lack of funding. Done & Done.

Your assumption is incorrect. There is a misconception by many on this BB that just because a person posts an entry they find they do not like this automatically means the post is supporting the extreme opposite position. This is neither logical nor rational.

The Republicans do not need to be the same as Democrats. I have never advocated that. But they have to come up with ideas that show they are in favor of helping people and not in simply obstructing anything proposed by any other party or president.

They need to be a loyal opposition party. Loyal in the sense of helping the country and not simply playing obstructionist politics. At times that will mean actually supporting ideas presented by the other party ... or even better support and improve those programs. In the last 5 years the GOP has opposed programs, because Obama proposed them, that they had pushed for previously. Remember O'Connell filibustering his own idea minutes after he had proposed it and the Democrats had agreed. This type of activity simply makes them look silly.

The GOP has to show they actually have ideas on how to govern, not just oppose.

You and I, who are old enough to remember those years, also certainly know that the USA is a very different country now. For better or worse is debatable and what may have worked then will not work now. Also, the Republicans were not a party that only dwelt on opposing all ideas. In those days the two parties would actually work together. We had senators and representatives who had lived through the depression and World War II and knew that it was preferable to compromise and gain something than to simply oppose everything and gain nothing while perhaps loosing all.

I understand your sentiments, but as the title of Thomas Wolf's book says, You Can't Go Home Again. Home has changed.
