regardless if both saved, justone, neither are...

Since He ordained the marriage for all peoples, would he see them as being all equally valid, same level?

The traditional interpretation of that passage is that believers should not marry non-believers. I've even read where believers should not partner in a business with a non-believers.

In re-looking at that passage, I think the key to the right view here is the definition of "unequally." What does that mean? I frankly am not sure.

And, we might need a discussion on the application of "yoked." Does that mean marriage, business partnership? Should athletes not play on the same team with non-believers?

This passage is not as clear-cut as I once thought it was.

Oh, the scripture passage in question is 2 Corinthians 6:14
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

Think the question would be then ...

Does God see "unequally yoked" marriages as still be just as valid as yoked ones?

I would say yes, as Paul stated that IF the unsaved partner decides to stay in it, God demands that it stay together as valid!

This is a great thread for discussion. It has been used in many ways over the years. I remember growing up in Mississippi in the 50s and 60s the verse was used to prohibit blacks and whites from marrying, which was totally unjustified. As posted above, in the marriage context, today it means a believer and unbeliever being married.

Within marriage, it certainly is good advice for the health of the marriage. A believer and an unbeliever have very little in common, which is the recipe for guaranteed problems beyond what any marriage brings anyhow. Certainly after the marriage is established, the verse does not mean dissolve the marriage. It was just a warning that the marriage would be more difficult. It is a common principle in the Bible that many of our problems are caused by the fact we did not take advice from the Lord in the first place.

The same principle goes for a business partnership. A believer and unbeliever think differently about everything, which will cause conflict in the business. There are enough problems with a new business on its own without a unity of purpose from the top.

All true, but doesn't the bible seem to teach that ALL marriages are equally valid once made , as the Lord sees that instutition as being given to all mankind, not just Christians?

Also, would unequally yoked apply to even 2 saved persons, but one wants to grow, another content to "just be saved', or else one holds to differing doctrines/practices than other christian?
