The big winners are the Democrats.

The GOP had a humiliating defeat because guys like John McCain. McCain should retire for all the harm that he has done to his own party. He should have retired when he was defeated in 2008.

Dingy Harry Reid may have a shot at the Democrat nomination now because Hillary has a bad record and Biden is looney tunes.

    Senator McCain is an enigma.

As a veteran, I salute him for his bravery and POW status and he should be honored for his sacrificial service.

Over Hanoi, he ejected from his disabled aircraft and received a broken leg, both arms were broken by the force of the ejection at 500KPH.

The VC beat and bayoneted him once they pulled him from the lake he had crashed.

Then he spent 5 1/2 years as a POW (the Hanoi Hilton was not a 5 star).
His weight fell to 100 lbs.

For that I will never speak against him though I don't think I can vote for him again.

I doubt you'll get the chance again, but I agree.

That is exactly how I feel Hank. The man is an American hero for what he has already done, not for what he will do.

The most heroic part of his imprisonment was that he refused to go home when they tried to release him before other prisoners who had been there longer. He could have been home years earlier, but refused to accept special treatment because of his father (who was the Admiral Commanding all Pacific forces I beleive). I wonder how he can accept his exclusion from obamacare as it is forced on the rest of us.

I voted for him before because of his history but now he is another politician who needs to be retired.

Yes, people change, but he will always be a hero, I believe we can all agree on that.

And we shouldn't forget his battle with cancer - yet he stayed by the helm in service to our country nonetheless.

The main reason I supported him so strongly is that I went through his voting record and saw that he was virtually solid pro-life. The only negative thing I saw was a large bill he voted for with several parts one of which approved of stem cell research using existing stem cells. His rebutall satisfied me as several other pro-lifers had done the same believeing that the stem cells originated from live birth placenta.
