I don't agree with Russell Moore and his stance on the SBC needing to pull out of political topics, especially the ones that are defining America. I do agree we need to be respectful when engaging those who are pushing their immoral aghenda upon America, but we don't need to duck our heads into the sand. We need Godly men with spines today and not another "can't we all just get along" guy.

I think what Russel Moore wants to see the SBC do is distance itself from political parties and not be thought of in lock step with the Republican party.

    I think that is wise.

Wildmon is more interested in politics than the Gospel it seems to me. He seems to think boycotts are more powerful than the Bible in this war.

When people think of the SBC they ought not automatically think "Tea Party."

What Moore and others of us wish the SBC would do is stop wasting energy and money and precious time picketing and politicking and instead use those valuable resources to make disciples.

If we make enough disciples we won't have to boycott and lobby and picket and all that other nonsense.

The best way to beat back homosexuality in this culture is to WIN this culture to Christ.

When people think of us they ought to think "Yea, you know, those people who feed millions of hungry people cross culturally and clothe them and shelter them and deliver them from addiction and make their lives so much better and they claim that it is Jesus through them doing all of that."

They ought not think, "Yea, those people who hate homosexuality and abortion."

Great Response Luke; It is all about "how" we communicate the message entrusted to us and pursue the ministry of reconciliation. We can indeed with intellect and WISDOM communicate the Biblical principles and standard that we honor and yet do this with integrity.

When religion becomes involved with national politics, politics does not become cleaner, but religion becomes dirty. It is a no win situation for the religion.

So we need to be more "relevant" in a world of darkness and be friends with the world? So many SBC churches have left preaching and gone to playing movie clips as a main part of their teaching and sermons. What you suggest takes completely away from the sovereignty of God in salvation and the doctrine of sufficiency.

We need to communicate the message of the Gospel. There is hope for redemption for the sin which plagues All of us eve YOU. Being clear and even "relevant" communicators of God's message of redemption and reconciliation in NO way takes away from God's Sovereignty or authority.

Regardless of what anyone says, you will continue to put your spin on it. Spin away Evangist... spin on.

God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. Fighting the world through political power in order to get outward conformity to propriety is not the gospel.

Unless you know why Jesus came, He will not equip you to address any of those other issues. Dr. Moore is right. We put far too much emphasis on the culture war without being assured we have settled our own issues before God.

Ours is the "ministry of reconciliation" not condemnation. We should proclaim with our words and lives the principles and standards taught to us in scripture.

Enjoyed and appreciated the video from the Swiss Parliament Member. I would bet that those of the uber political left would tag him with nazi like tendancies. I think his message is "relevant" and poignant.

I think we should be asking what should our response be. Some of these people are no more than thugs but they are here and coming too. I have seen those in our universities who one would never guess that they are similar if not just like thugs when pushed into what they really think. While the church is debating CM they are coming onto our soil and in our neighborhoods. People is some of these communities are afraid. Someone I know told me that Muslims are being shot in Italy by the mafia. In Australia the president stood against them by telling them that they must abide by their laws of leave. So many our leaders today are PC police that they will not stand against those who create division. They are more concerned about having peace than they are doing what God commands.

I think the congress we have today is a glimpse of what is to come if America does not stand for righteousness. People are standing against Christians and by doing that are open for anything Satan wants.

I think the SBC and any other church should not align itself to any political party or its causes.

But I put "draw a line in the sand and stand our ground." I meant that, not in the political arena, but in the arena of our own conduct and testimony.

Then all of us should vote for both issues and offices with our beliefs in mind.

    Yes, absolutely.

We are called to be salt and light. I don't care much for politicized voter guides and all of those things, but Christians should be aware of the issues, carefully considered them according to their beliefs and conscience, and be involved in voting and the political process.

Most people don't take the time to contact their political representatives and voice their concerns. If we do that in a careful and constructive way, we can have extraordinary influence that will benefit everyone.

I would say the average person does not have a clue about the battle that rages for our soul through politics to enslave us. Politicians want more power who are elected by people with good intentions.

How many Christians think government assistance makes people slaves. Milton Friedman and Thomas Sowell do a good job explaining how these things make slaves out of people and does them harm. Yet it is so often the church who also "helps" people when in reality it makes them dependent. John Stossel did a program called freeloaders and one of the people he interviewed said it was the soup kitchens that enslaved him until he refused their help.

I agree 100%. The problem we have across America is so many are divorced from good information. The average person knows little about the battle that rages in our nation. People are watching us to see what we do. Most people want to be told what to do and they do little to study themselves. The enemy is always working and we must be alert. I have seen the politics in a city make it more difficult for some churches simply because someone on a city council does not want a church. I was involved in a situation where a teacher was requiring a book to be read by high school students that had a lot of vulgar language. We went through the process of speaking to the teachers first and then finally with the school board. When not one thing was done we went to the news in a city of close to one million. The issue was solved in one day after the new broadcasted the issue.

There are those who want vulgarity and pornography and if we do not get involved it will grow. Sometime take a look at what continues in Las Vegas and why. Think of the destruction that comes from that.
