Appearing Friday (Oct. 25) on C-SPAN, the president of the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission (ERLC) said the headline on a recent profile in The Wall Street Journal was misleading about what he believes regarding evangelical involvement on cultural issues. Peter Slen, host of "Washington Journal," quickly asked Moore if the headline – "Evangelical Leader Preaches Pullback From Politics, Culture Wars" -- was accurate.

"I think that was an inaccurate headline," Moore said, because it did not include "the word 'against.'"

Instead, what it should have said, he told Slen, is: "Evangelical Leader Preaches Against Pullback ..."

"What I'm calling for is not a pullback but a priority," Moore said. "What I'm concerned about is that I see a generation of evangelicals who are disaffected from political engagement. Many of them simply want to walk away from political engagement, which I think would be a terrible error. The reason they want to walk away from it is because they've lived in a secularized society and they understand the importance of the Gospel, what the Scripture says is of first importance....

"And so many of them want to say, 'Let's concentrate on that and not consume ourselves with politics.' What I'm wanting to say to them is: 'We can't make that choice. We have to, if we love our neighbors, be engaged in the public process; we have to be concerned as citizens; we have to be fighting against injustice, including injustices such as abortion and sex trafficking and pornography and all of those things.'

Thanks for the link. I'm glad he has had a chance to clarify himself after taking a beating for the AFA bunch.

I think he is describing a much more constructive way to be salt and light in our society than simply partisan politics and using strong-arm tactics against those who have agendas that harm humankind.

I was concerned about Moore replacing Land, but he is proving to be a much better choice than I expected.

I have never seen anyone simply use partisan politics. That is just a false caricature.

So was the WSJ piece in error? Did they publish false atatements from Dr. Moore? What was printed is far from what he says now. I would think the WSJ is liable for this.

I watched the interview on Cspan today. He was very charitable and said his words were just interpreted wrong.

I may be wrong, but I doubt VERY seriously that you are going to find any Ds on the national level to fit this character, and unlikely any Rs either.

I would have no problem being proved wrong, but I ain't holding my breath.

Probably some of both on the county/municipal level, but rarely any higher.:tear:

So long as one of the primary pieces of the Democrat platform is to support unfettered abortion then there is no way to reasonably support a democrat.

think that my main point was not to just get behind and support/vote a strightparty, as there are MANYRepublicans who really belong inDemocratic party with theirviews, and there might be some conservative southern Dems could support, as they really should become republicans!
