I am currently scanning all our church business meeting minutes and our church council meeting minutes. Once scanned we will store them on the Net ... in a cloud.

I am curious if anyone on the BB goes to a church that is converting their historical records and meeting minutes to an electronic format?

No. I don't think that the effort is worth it, honestly. How many would look into them?

Two thoughts. I would like you opinion on them.

    1. As a backup in case of a fire or natural disaster that would destroy the paper copies.
[*]For a future historian. It would make research easier and quicker.

One of the other BB members told us about his church minutes - a member was disfellowship for gambling - in the stock market

and besides, paper records will at some point become unusable

True. We are not using parchment or anything close to it. Paper used in printers has a usable life time that is not very long in the sense of time. I have seen books 500 years old where the paper is still in very good condition. But that is not the type of paper used now, except in very rare instances. Good point Salty.

Hmmm, well maybe you are ... after all you tolerate me politely.

Maybe it is just that you and I are old ...... er, mature enough, to realize that just because we disagree with someone or some disagrees with us ... that does not make the other person automatically evil or "the enemy".

After all, what a boring world it would be if we all agreed on everything.

I think you are wise enough to realize that sometimes I respond simply to see where the other person will go with the reply ... and sometimes simply to pull their chain.

It is all in good fun. Seems many modern folk have not figured that out. Wow, would they have hated Mark Twain on a BB.

We could have a good time together, you with your MD and I with my double espresso.

Well, then it's not a bad idea!! :)

ETA - We were given a historical Baptist church in another town and we found the church minutes (they recorded even the services and stuff), and we can see where they gathered for a service of remembrance for President Lincoln when he was murdered!

That is really interesting. I would think there are historians who would really like to see those minutes.
