People participate on BB for different purposes.

Some consider this a debate board; with them, anything goes including misleading and irritating statements to enhance their debating position.

Others want to interact only in a discussion or information format. The debaters can easily offend the others unintentionally while operating in their debate mode.

Have those in charge considered making separate debate and discussion categories? It could reduce the number of hurt feelings and misunderstandings.

    Already have them.

Debate is not the issue that causes problems it is the manner in which some debate. There is at least one on this board who defends thier attack dog debate style. They claim that their debate tactics (not substantial argument) convinces people.

Still others are so myopic that they just become dishonest when they have nothing better.

My ignore list has grown dramatically recently.

Think that much of our problems are due to us not really understanding others perspective, or seeing our views as the 'right and only ones", and also due to us , and also at times we have to be more "strident" as when those advocatic cultic/false gospels pop up here on the board!

We can and do discuss at times "agressively", but no reason to havedivision and staying angry over "non essentials" of the christian faith!

thats true - but what is "non-essential" to one may be the foundation of belief of another.

true, but to me "non essentials" would just be doctrines and practices that would be secondary in nature, and not meeting requirement to be essential and worthy of dividing/seperating over!

You see it a lot inthe ise of straw men on both sides, as we cals are said at times to worship a Dictator God, a "puppet Master", while at times we have saod calvinism "is the Gospel" :eek:nly right and real view" "only Cals hold to sovereinght of God"

truth is that we seem to have already written off ANY pointsother side might have, so hard to discuss then!
