Speaking in a gun violence symposium at University of Connecticut's School of Law, Texas A&M law professor Mary Margaret Penrose said it's time "to repeal and replace [the] Second Amendment."

Penrose said this after expressing her frustration with the fact that President Obama has failed to pass more gun control in the eleven months since the heinous crime at Sandy Hook Elementary.

Any attempt to do that would certainly start a civil war.

Penrose is obviously from a "blue state" mentality.

The thought that making guns illegal will make people safer has been proven to not be completely accurate, time and time again. It is such a simplistic answer to a much more complicated issue. I don't want people being shot anymore then any gun owner I've ever come across in my life, but making criminals out of law abiding citizens hardly seems like anything close to a reasonable response.

I agree. But even so go2church, it's the law of the land, we have the right to keep and to bear arms even if many abuse that right.

To further illustrate their inconsistency RE: The value of life - liberals need to answer this question -How many people die per year via gunshot versus abortion?

Or should we outlaw automobiles because 30-40,000 people die on as the highways as the result of vehicle crashes?

Or should we outlaw matches and lighters because they are used in the crime of arson?

    etc, etc, etc...

I fully support the second amendment. I hear often that the founding fathers didn't intend for that to include machine guns and etc... I would beg to differ. I think they would have embraced all the improvements in firearm technology. The key is that they didn't like the idea of only the government having guns. They felt, for the most part, that citizens could and should be trusted to protect themselves if needed. In other words, the second amendment isn't about technology.

In my support, it should be noted that I do not own a gun, unless you count a BB gun.
