We have here a very special baker’s dozen (13) … not of delicious donuts,
but of Scripture passages which instruct us what is required for salvation.
God’s free gift of grace-faith has provided us with His Spirit to help us,
but now we need to continue on with our part in the salvation process!

“Then one said to Him, ‘Lord, are there few who are saved?’
And He said to them, ‘Strive to enter through the narrow gate,
for many, I say to you, will seek to enter and will not be able.’ ” (Luke 13:24)

“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven,
but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. …
Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord … And then I will declare to them,
‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ ” (Matthew 7:21-23)

“If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself,
and take up his cross daily, and follow Me … For what profit is it to a man,
if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost?” (Luke 9:23-25)
This is repeated in Matthew 10:38-39, Matthew 16:24-26, Mark 8:34-36, John 12:25.

    Let’s talk about sin

“And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the
kingdom of God with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire”
    (Mark 9:47, Matthew 5:30, Matthew 18:9)

“Now with whom was He angry forty years? Was it not with those who sinned,
whose corpses fell in the wilderness? … Let us therefore be diligent …
lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience.” (Hebrews 3:17-4:11)

You can be “(slaves) of sin leading to (eternal) death, or (slaves) of obedience leading to
righteousness … so now present your members as slaves of righteousness for holiness
… For the wages of sin is (eternal) death …” (Romans 6:16-23)

“Pursue … holiness, without which no one will see the Lord:
looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God” (Hebrews 12:14-15)

    Let’s talk more about righteousness

“… whoever fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him.” (Acts 10:35)

“… let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous” (1 John 3:7)

“And these (who do not do good works) will go away into everlasting punishment,
but the righteous into eternal life.” (Matthew 25:46)

And let’s not leave out obedience

“… you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether (slaves) of sin leading to death,
or (slaves) of obedience leading to righteousness …” (Romans 6:16)

“He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him.” (Hebrews 5:9)

“Good Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life? …
But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.” (Matthew 19:16-17)

Conclusion: It's all on us now ... with the Holy Spirit inside of us to be our Helper!

If it's all on us, the God is a liar.

You quote the verses, but do NOT know what they actually mean!

Your Gospel is the one Paul and John had to fight against, combo of Gnostic/Judaizers, almost like Catholic Charasmatic!

My only qvestion is ... How moronic can you people be?

"But IF we (Christians) walk in the light as He is in the light,
we have fellowship with one another,
and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
IF we confess (repent of) our sins, He is faithful and just
to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us."
    (1 John 1:7-10)

No colors, etc. this time ... you're responsible for figuring it out for yourselves!

    Nice - name calling now?

Where in here do we see "If we are saved and then sin, we are not saved. But then if we confess, we are saved again. But beware lest you fall and lose your salvation again."?

Let's also not miss the very next chapter.

My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 2 He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world. 3 And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments. 4 Whoever says “I know him” but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him, 5 but whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in him: 6 whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.

We know that we are saved because we keep His commandments. We are not saved because we keep His commandments. But when we sin, we know that we have an advocate for us in Jesus Christ. That tells me CLEARLY that we don't lose our salvation because how can Jesus advocate that which is not His?

I'm currently preparing a thread on forgiveness.

You obviously believe you will be saved ... even if Father God does NOT forgive you of your sins!

Roberto should be talking to YOU about his "Russian roulette".

If I am not saved, my sins are not forgiven. If I am saved, my sins are forgiven. I am saved therefore my sins are forgiven. There is no salvation apart from forgiveness of sins.

The father CANNOT refuse to forgive a child of His, one who has had their sins paid in full by death/blood of jesus shed for them!

God justifies us freely and fully when saved by Him, as blood of jesus paid for ALL my debt ever to do!

God already forgave me in full, did your father do that for you?

    Faith:
    Non Baptist Christian

In infinite love and mercy God made Christ, who knew no sin, to be sin for us, so that in Him we might be made the righteousness of God.

Led by the Holy Spirit we sense our need, acknowledge our sinfulness, repent of our transgressions, and exercise faith in Jesus as Lord and Christ, as Substitute and Example. This faith which receives salvation comes through the divine power of the Word and is the gift of God's grace.

Through Christ we are justified, adopted as God's sons and daughters, and delivered from the lordship of sin. Through the Spirit we are born again and sanctified; the Spirit renews our minds, writes God's law of love in our hearts, and we are given the power to live a holy life. Abiding in Him we become partakers of the divine nature and have the assurance of salvation now and in the judgment.

I suspect the following Scripture are new to you but they really are in all Bible translations that I have seen. Perhaps yours omits these.

    John 10:27-31
    27. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
    28. And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
    29. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.
    30. I and my Father are one.
    31. Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.

Wonder who would take up stones to stone our Savior for the above remarks regarding His Sovereignty in Salvation and the Eternal Security of those He has saved?

    Ephesians 1:3-14
    3. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
    4. According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
    5. Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
    6. To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
    7. In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
    8. Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;
    9. Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:
    10. That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
    11. In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
    12. That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
    13. In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
    14. Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

The above Scripture is a perfect complement to the Words of Jesus Christ from the Gospel of John.
