2013 Summit of the New Baptist Covenant

    One, there's no way this group has 20 million members, given the SBC is not participating, and all other Baptist organizations combined total maybe 13 million members. I know other major Baptist denominations are not officially participating, such as the IFB, ABA and Free Will associations, though I'm sure there are representatives from those denominations, just not leaders of those denominations. If they represent a million Baptists, I'd be amazed.

    Two, Jimmy Carter was anti-SBC as early as the mid-1970s, when the movement was underway to restore literal interpretation of Scripture to the seminaries. I don't have much use for this group. They talk about "healing the divisiveness" among the various Baptist organizations, but reject biblical inerrancy, preach a social gospel that excludes Christ's role as Judge, and seeks political answers to spiritual issues.
