I am learning from the Democrats about how to bring that fact up about controlling cost by denying care during the Thanksgiving Dinner, which seems a good time to remind people of all that Obama has done for us.

Yeah, you can do that in response to any relatives you have at your gathering who want to bring up the print-out of "talking points" trying to sell the rest of their family on the ACA. The administration has actually encouraged their socialist wing-nut followers to do that -- at Thanksgiving?!?! Really??

Ace of Spades' Talking Points for Talking With Your Obnoxious Progressive Family Members About Obamacare This Thanksgiving
    —Ace

    1. Hey remember when you said that Obamacare was going to work great, and then, when people asked you how it actually worked, you sort of implied they were stupid for not knowing, and yet you never provided any evidence that you had any idea of how it was supposed to work yourself? Yeah, you were wrong to do that.

    2. Remember when you called me crazy for saying Obama wanted to "spread the wealth around," based on not a scrap of evidence except for Obama himself saying he wanted to spread the wealth around? Yeah, there's a NYT article that says that Obamacare is fundamentally a redistributive program -- which means it "spreads the wealth around." Yeah you were wrong on that, too.

    3. Remember when you said that it was only "REPUBLICAN LIES!!111!!" that Obama's "if you like your plan, you can keep your plan" promise was itself a lie? I hate to keep coming back to this point, but you were way wrong on that one too.

    4. Remember the "if you like your doctor" pledge? Yeah I feel like a broken record here, but you were wrong.

    5. Remember when you gleefully, giddily declared the end of the Republican Party and a new era of Proud Progressive dominance? Yeah, the current political Big Story is whether or not Obamacare will wind up discrediting progressivism for just an election cycle or two, or as much as a generation. It looks like you were wrong about that.

    6. Remember when you were so confident, arrogant, snotty, sneering, and dismissive about legitimate and informed concerns about Obamacare? You were wrong. And you weren't just wrong on the facts, but you were wrong on a human level. You very nearly screamed your ignorant opinions and shouted down dissent. You sneered at people as ignorant who actually knew more than you did, and you indulged in entirely-unwarranted moral preening about your alleged concern for the poor. Despite the fact that you never do anything to actually aid the poor. Apparently shouting at relatives is your idea of "charity."

Yeah you were wrong. You are wrong.

I know you won't apologize, but at least keep your stupid mouth shut this year and let us all digest in peace.

What idiot would actually call a "death panel" a "death panel"? They gave it the innocuous name "Independent Payment Advisory Board." See? No threat there, right? It isn't about death, it's about payments and advise, right?

Wrong. As Sarah Palin rightly pointed out in her book last year, the IPAB will be able to cut providers' pay arbitrarily. Public awareness of the board shot up last year when Palin called it a “death panel,” connecting the IPAB to her previous attacks on a proposal to encourage end-of-life planning in the Affordable Care Act. She was called a "liar" (naturally) when she published her book, but it is obvious now she was 100% correct.

Many of her accusers were forced to admit that the ACA does, in fact create a panel of faceless bureaucrats who have the power to make life and death decisions about healthcare funding. It was confirmed for them, and everyone, when former Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean drew attention to the board designed to limit Medicare cost growth. He called for its repeal in an op-ed late last month, in which he argued that the board would ultimately ration care for Medicare patients. Now the stuff has hit the fan.

So yes, dear brother, they don't call it a "death panel," but a "death panel" it is.

    Halperin has offered a clarification.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/11/26/mark-halperin-death-panels_n_4344531.html

Notice that the piece cites his Twitter account.

There are no "death panels" in the ACA and there is language which strictly forbids them. Folks, if you don't like the ACA that's fine. I don't think it is a good law, but mostly because of the overreaching from big insurance and the poor execution built into the law. It should be scrapped.

However, going around and buying the lie that there are death panels only discredits your argument.

Of course Halperin clarified. Most likely after the whitehouse got on to him like they do everyone else that place them in a bad light.

The advisory committee is a death panel.

Good to see another example of fine, conservative insight added to this post.

So he's backpedaling and Howard Dean has already confirmed Sarah Palin's accusation about the death panel. Hmm ...

Kinda hard to make Dean backpedal, I'd think.
