.... "facilitating heresy" if it sells its "old" building to a Mormon congregation?

EX: A few years back, a local Bible-believing BC built a new church building to handle its congregational growth. It turned out that the "best bid" to purchase its old building was a relatively new Mormon congregation. The BC decided to sell their old facility to them.

Several other relatively nearby BC's learned of this and therefore "dis-fellowshipped" from that church on the grounds that this BC was facilitating heresy by the Mormons to make it easier to spread their "false doctrines."

Were such other BC's right or wrong in doing so?

The church is not a building. The church is the body of Christ consisting of born again believers. A building is just a building. They were free to sell it to whomever made a fair bid.

NO, for the church is NOT the ground/building, its the saved of the Lord, so would see them as 'fleecing" satan Kingdom to get money for God's!

I would not aid false doctrines in their false doctrines. I would have a problem with my home church aiding the mormons in any way that does not pull them to the gospel.

Yes, if you didn't sell them the building they would repent of their false doctrine.

This falls under the same category as buying meat once offered to idols. It's a non-issue at best.

I suspect the complaining churches would've done so if it was sold to anyone outside their association.

Can't sell it to Church X because they (fill in the blank with your favorite separation issue). Can't sell it to Mr. Hornblower because he wants to make a thee-ater out of it. Can't sell it to Mrs. Barksalot because she wants to turn it into an art studio and they might paint neck-ed people. Miss Twirler wants to build a dance studio and everybody knows that dancing leads to --- more dancing! Worse case scenario is Junior Samples buying it for a used car lot and he might sell Fords. Everybody knows that friends don't let friends drive Fords.

Example: the sale of Glorieta Conference Center to the Assembly of Evangelical Presbyterian Churches' Olivet University was nixed last year by Southern Baptist denominational bureaucrats for theological reasons.

Then I would suggest you join another local church that specifically forbids selling real property to Mormons in their local Constitution. That is usually Article 4, Section C, Subsection 3.2.

I fully agree. It reminds me of the question of local churches not taking lottery winnings as an offering.

This reminds me of how the Israelites made a spoil of the Egyptians and used the spoils to build the Tabernacle.
