OK.... Ive been shootin my mouth off that the "Churches" around the area do nothing for the community. BUT there is one that does.....the Trinity UMC. So they have a weekly mens group bible study & they use Barclays. After reading this.....

    It makes sense.....comments like...

    "We dont stress doctrine here"

" Why stress that you are a Baptist, arent we all really just Christians"

"Paul had an angel advocating for him, we dont"

"Well we dont dunk them here"

Yada yada yada.....LOL . Also note that the name of the church is TRINITY! How ironic.

    From WIKI:

Barclay's personal views, expressed in his own A Spiritual Autobiography (1977) and Clive L. Rawlins' William Barclay: prophet of goodwill: the authorized biography (1998) included:

scepticism concerning the Trinity: for example "Nowhere does the New Testament identify Jesus with God."[3]
belief in universal salvation: in his autobiography he wrote, "I am a convinced universalist. I believe that in the end all men will be gathered into the love of God."[4]
    pacifism: "war is mass murder".[5

Why waste time with Barclay when we have the Bible?

Barclay's own words you present convict him of heresy.

I told the guy today who is the facilitating....he seemed surprised but then dismissed it. They make fun of my NKjV...its too far out for them. They even had a guy today quoting Rob Bell today. I stand in amazement that the Pastor of this church holds a DD but doesn't even come to these studies, rather he hands out this garbage and allows it to infiltrate men who are members of his church. These brothers are trying to understand Christ, God love them but the shepherd is wantonly absent from performing the do dilligence that is necessary to bring these fellows along. He isn't even feeding them milk....he is feeding them poison. I mean, I dont know what to do. I will also remind you that it is a UMC though and its probably the biggest in the state of NJ....they do feed and clothe allot of people.

I can't say the Southern Baptists do a lot except in case of National Disasters such as tornados, floods, and hurricanes. Salvation Army does a lot routinely here in SC as well as National disasters. They are Arminian to the core. Otherwise their doctrine is not bad except for:

Its not so much Arminian vs Predestinators that conserns me....Its the "We dont teach doctrine here" that is, ahhh to borrow a phrase from Charles Spurgeon..... "The Downgrade" or the common phrase today, "The dumbing down effect" & its painful to see. Most of these people are ex Catholics & they arent being fed doctrine, solid Christian doctrine. Its these people that need to be ministered to. Got any suggestions?
