....human life of Jesus did He recognize His "Messiah-ship"?

Obviously He must have recognized at least some aspect(s) of His mission as Savior by age 12 (Luke 2:42-49), but is there any SPECIFIC mention of when He realized that He was "different" than any other boy?

There is no mention of "when" because He knew all along, even from the cradle. He didn't surrender His deity, He merely laid it aside, meaning He did not avail Himself of His rights as God, but submitted Himself fully to the Father.

This is an intriguing question, since it spurs other questions.

For instance, was there ever a time when Jesus DIDN'T recognize His messiahship? I know, I know, what about when he was six months old?

If Jesus didn't know it, then at some point became aware of it, would that represent a change? Could Jesus change and still be God, who is unchanging?

Just stirring the pot a bit.

Got to remember to add this to my list of stuff I want to ask Him when I see Him.

The answer to this question is unknowable but we do know that "Jesus kept increasing in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men."

"Jesus kept increasing....in favor with God...."

    Hmmm.

Since Jesus WAS/IS/ALWAYS WILL BE God, I wonder just how HE could keep increasing in favor with Himself?

Here is what Isaiah had to say about the matter.

For He grew up before Him like a tender shoot,
    And like a root out of parched ground;
He has no stately form or majesty
That we should look upon Him,
Nor appearance that we should be attracted to Him.

Apparently, God and the Lord Jesus Christ were not strangers.

When does a father not visit with the son, hold the son, be proud of the son from the time of birth?

"This is my Son in whom I am well pleased" is not an indication of having no prior fellowship, but surely must indicate an ongoing one.

I wonder if Mary ever told him of her visit from the angel?

I wonder if Joseph ever told him of his visit from the angel when he was about to put her away?

I am sure they did, but was it necessary? Didn't He already know?

I guess that if an angel could tell Joseph to hot tail it to Egypt (Mt 2:13-14) ......

I don't know if he knew. Here is what the Angel told Joseph.

But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. NKJV Matt 1:20

Verse 18 says this was the birth of Jesus Christ.

In Luke the above was told to Mary by an Angel of how that would take place.

And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God. NKJV Luke 1:35

Did this virgin woman give birth to the Son of God, the Holy One, a man child or not? What was self emptied of God in sending his only begotten Son into the world?

Here is an interesting passage concerning father and son and grandson and great grandson.

And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth tithes, payed tithes in Abraham. For he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedec met him. Hebrews 7:9,10

What about, "glory," did God self empty glory in the Son of God by generating him in the seed of the woman?

And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. John 17:5 KJV

    Did the Father glorify him?

Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead; Gal 1:1
Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God. 1 Peter 1:21

What is this glory, anyway??? I think it is eternal life.

The words used 150 times in the NASB as "glory" is the Greek doxa and has a variety of applications, but the key one for God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, is "the kingly majesty which belongs to him as supreme ruler, majesty in the sense of the absolute perfection of the deity; a thing belonging to Christ; the kingly majesty of the Messiah; the absolutely perfect inward or personal excellency of Christ." I don't believe we, even our heavenly bodies, can attain to that level of glory.

God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Hebrews 1:1,2 --- How is God/he there different from Son and just what does heir mean there that one has been appointed thereof by another?

And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. Rom 8:17 --- Is heir in that verse the same heir in the verse from Hebrews? Is glory something to be inherited? Did God the Father of Jesus the Christ give him glory in raising him from the dead as implied in 1 Peter 1:21?

For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. Heb 2:10 ---- Is that a second rate glory spoken of there? Is that not the glory God the Father gave him in raising him from the dead perfecting him as the captain of salvation? Compare to Hebrews 5:8,9,10 suffering, being made perfect, becomes author of, Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec. And just what does that mean? See Heb 5:4 That; Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee.

The one who raised him from the dead, glorified him to be high priest.

YLT Phil 3:21 who shall transform the body of our humiliation to its becoming conformed to the body of his glory, according to the working of his power, even to subject to himself the all things.

The glory of the resurrected Jesus is life and incorruptibility. The sure mercies of David which God, the Father of Jesus gave to Jesus in raising him from the dead. Acts 13:34,35
